I just got another negrep (surprise)

This time again, like the others it has absolutely nothing to do with the post I made, whining about something to do with tinfoil...correct me if I am wrong but doesnt this statement usually come hand in hand with a conspiracy theory?

I see nothing about my post here which is rude, flaming, racist or anything else so why are people keep giving negreps for things they do not agree with??!

Are people not allowed to have opinions on these forums without constantly wondering if they will get negative reputation?

I propose that the whole system is removed, it helps no1 and simply serves as a popularity contest or simply a way of dragging someone down who has done nothing wrong which would warrant such a bad mark.

Perhaps its got something to do with your compulsion to post a comment on every thread, 350 posts in 2/3 months at most. Not having a go, but understand people might think you've got an opinion on everything. Anyway getting back to your question, no lets keep the rep system as is, the more people that have a voice the better.

I never saw any rule on not being allowed to post more than twice a day when I registered, and I am active in every forum I ever go to...or would people prefer a forum that is completely dead and devoid of new posts?

I agree with your point about people having a voice, but why keep a bad system for old times sake?

Reputation systems handed out by the general userbase who have no little understanding of the rules or subtleties only destroy them from the inside out, general posters should not be doing the work that is the realm of the admins and mods only...otherwise what is the point of having them except as glorified topic closers?

Sparhawke, I'm sorry my neg-rep has upset you so much, I was just trying to express my disappoval with your post. I made mention of tinfoil because you mentioned distrusting a government agency that didn't reveal information that is probably proprietary information. I suppose the tinfoil comment was a bit harsh for you. Perhaps you could join me on my next beacon run to show you why I disagree with your opinion on MA status.

In %-age of the neg-reps I get is about:

80% - "revenge neg rep" from people that I have negrepped (even though I follow the rep rules)

10% - Telling a truth that people do not want to hear...

10% - Other


Of those, about 90% contains rude comments, swear words, etc etc

well there was a thread just a few days back with a guy who said that all ppl with over 80% forum activity was just spammers who posted in every thread (preferably several times in the same thread) just to get a high activity rating
