As for the no "I'm quitting" threads, who cares if you are leaving, maybe your friends does, but if they are really your friends wouldnt it be more appropriate to tell them ingame instead of infesting the forums with negative content.
A decision about leaving shouldnt take 5 minutes, but considered over a longer period of time, so plenty of time to tell your friends ingame, or even IRL. Spreading it on the forums only has one cause, to spread negativity about the game, which is not what EF was made for in the first place. Old players remember MindArk's own forum, it was stuffed with negativity, ppl whining, complaining, ppl leaving, it was a mess. So when I started EF I made it perfectly clear from start that I didnt want any such things here, EF was made for ppl who like the game. Surely there may be some "good" cases where ppl leave for other reasons, like busy in IRL, but allowing those would mean the negative ones should be allowed also, and after all it all ends up to the same, anyone who might care about you leaving are prolly your friends, so take the time and do it ingame or IRL. If you cant be bothered to do that, are they really your friends ? |

And saying bye doesn't always mean bye for good, as we have seen lots of times. If you are fond of rules - why don't you make a rule for the goodbye and welcome threads? Tell people to say bye in a decent maner? It would be like any other threads/posts were there are rules about how to behave. It's not only about who's friends and who's not. It's also about telling the other people in this somewhat tiny world, that we are no more there - and before stupid rumours starts. |

As for the "No discussing other mmorpg's" rule.
I made EF for EU, not for discussing other mmorpg's, surely it can come in handy some times to mention other mmorpg's, for comparison reasons, but in the end they would almost all turn into what other mmorpg's do better than EU. I'm pretty sure MA already has all that covered, reading forums and articles about other games, analyzing, maybe even "reverse engineer" some ideas from other games. Talking about other games and what you would like to see in EU that they have in other games is almost worthless, as MA cannot use it, they would be stealing ideas from other games and risk charges for copyright infringement and worse. Just tried to keep EF strickly EU when i started it, and yes, also to avoid giving ppl ideas about starting another game than EU. even to prevent myself from discovering other mmorpgs, what if ppl posted about some awesome mmorpg, I gave it a try, and in the case that I really liked it, closed down EF, because why would I run EF if I was not playing EU... |

There is nothing wrong with trying out another mmorpg... don't tell me EU is the only mmorpg you ever tried? There is nothing wrong in knowing what the competitors are showing - and no, even though MA somehow are acting not that professional in some few cases - don't tell me they fall for the "stealing ideas" things - they might just see what NOT to do - and to me that could be usefull. You are talking as if this is a sick relationship or something? And you know that people in here have access to the huge internet - and most are probably also a member of mmorgh.com - and therefore new games are always a competition. But as you have seen lots of times - and in which I'm sure MA has faith too .. most people return to EU again. Maybe a "discuss other games" area is too much, but at least if someone is comparing something in EU with WoW - f.x. how it sucks that wow doesnt use tp'chips which means you have to spend a lot of useless time running, that can't be bad to EU? Again .. it's not all black and white! And I don't think people in here, who are playing, are trying to "cheat" on EF or EU! |

Its not about EU "beeing the best game and nobody is allowed to think otherwise". Its about EntropiaForum beeing a place to discussing EntropiaUniverse
Im sure, if you wish to try out a new MMO other then EU, then you will find one without the help of EF. We are not here to drive away the players, but rather to make a community around EU, not a community of general MMO´s. ![]() |

Lol, I was ofcourse exaggerating
but you get the idea, I would never shut down EF (back then) even if I did find another mmorpg. ![]() But now with new owner, rules can be changed, though my own opinion is still that "quitting" and "other mmorpg" thread shouldnt be allowed, personally as a member I would like to read about EU, not about other mmorpg's or about ppl quitting. ![]() |
