Pic Posting/Expanding the Forum/and Signatures

There continues to be far too many pics posted that expand the forum. Some even to a point where the "Edit" button can't be reached in order to make changes.

There also seem to be an abundance of signatures that are not in compliance with the forum rules as well.

Please take the time to familiarize yourself with the following rules with regard to uploading and posting pics and signatures.

IMAGES AVATARS AND SIGNATURES

Rule # 28
All pics and signatures must be uploaded to the EF gallery. Linking to another source is NOT allowed. We reserve the right to change your avatar/signature/posts without further notice but in most cases a PM will be sent to request that you change it yourself.

Rule # 29
When uploading a pic to the gallery, either edit the size of the pic, or use the thumbnail or link option to post pics in a thread to prevent expanding the forum. Any pic that expands the forum will be edited or deleted.

Rule # 31
Signatures: Text used in your signature may not be too long and not use characters larger than “SIZE=3” and only contain 5 lines of text. Please limit graphical signatures to 500x120 pixels. One 500x120 pixel image and ONE line of text is acceptable, but not an image along with a large amount of text. Please keep your signature as small as possible, since large signatures clutter the forum and cause unnecessary amounts of scrolling. Signatures are only shown ONCE per page, per member.

It would be appreciated if you would take the time to upload and post pics and signatures properly, and according to the posted rules. Also, for those signatures that are not in compliance with the rule requirements, please make appropriate changes.

The clickable thumbnail tool has been restored to the gallery.


Also, there is a way to quickly add pictures to a post, without the need to copy code from the gallery: Simply click the "My Pics" link in the area to the right of the edit window (below the smilies) and a handy tool will automatically paste any images you select into your post.

The gallery does this automatically, but if someone pastes the full image into a thread, there is no way to autoresize such.

Another hint:

The ideal size for an image (not thumbnail) posted directly in a thread is 550 pixels wide. Anything bigger than this will expand the forum. If you would like to paste a larger image directly into a post rather than a thumbnail, it would then be a good idea to resize your image to 550 width or less.

Just a suggestion.

I am fully aware of auto-picture resizing software available via php.

Perhaps I wasn't clear enough: there is no add-on for vBulletin to do this within a post. I cannot simply paste php code into the pages that run the forum. vBulletin uses a highly-specialized template system to cache and generate the final php pages.

Would it be an option to use the styling option "overflow: auto" on the content parts of messages? If it were to become to wide, it would automatically create a scrollbar for that post, and as only the width is specified the height would still automatically adjust without scrollbars.

I think this would work although im not a css expert

I have also noticed that when you wrap some text with the {code} tag it expands the forum too
