This one caught me by complete surprise!

First I got a skill gain message.



Don't know why but I always screen shot them, but it didn't really mean anything to me.
The only time I've ever checked up on what medical skills do for you was when I was looking into unlocking wounding. Since then the only time I look at that skill screen is to see how far along my anatomy is.

Then I guess we all know what message I got a few minutes later.

This creature had no loot.

Then...




WOW!!

Maybe I should pay more attention to when skill unlocks occur.

My Mom should be happy I'm part way to being a Doctor. Ok so it's only a tiny fraction of the way there and it's only a Doctor of virtual medicine. She doesn't need to know that.
