I know, might be a stupid thing in achievements - but 2 min. ago I got the official divorce papers - after waiting one year+

I am now FINALY a divorced woman ... AND VERY VERY HAPPY TOO!!!

Well, marriage was just something invented by the church to gain influence (and donations ) over the people. A silly tradition like that shouldn't be what give a couple happiness. ~_^

P.S. Ops, I just realized that my comment can be religiously charged. I simply meant regardless of one's faith and belief in god, and whether marriage is sacred, that sort of thing

I never been married so I really don't know the joy of getting divorced. I only know my parents did, and that sucked.

Although symbolism carries a great amount of emotion with it. Marriage is a very symbolic gesture of a couples feelings for each other, and as such translates into happiness a lot of people.

Personal experience can, however, also change that symbolic emotion into something else ... ever met a person who had a horrible marriage and after getting divorced said never again?

Yep, sorry for being unclear. Marriage is just a symbol of the feelings between lovers, thus it is not the symbol that brings happiness, but the feelings themselves.
