Someone recently sold a set of Angel armor on EF for 72k peds.
The max protection Angel gives on any specific damage is 30. A quick check of the auction indicates that by chipping courage, one could add about 80 health for 72k peds. So why choose the armor over the health? What am I missing here? |

Well, for one, you lose 10% of the skill value and the price of the esi the moment you insert the skill chip(s). The angel stands a decent chance of selling for more than you bought it for.
two, i think a typical avatar will be able to kill higher end mobs more effectively by purchasing angel than chipping up 80 hp and continuing to use their mid-level armor. But I agree, good armor prices are insane... as with the rest of the nice gear. This is just what happens when people blur the line between their "virtual" world and "real" world. I'm sure there are avatars that have a substantial amount of their IRL net-worth in game. And plenty of others who just plain have a shit-load of money. |

On for example atrox the armor gives 90 HP protection.
so instead of getting hits of 150 from a big trox you get hits of 60. Many ppl can fap those dmg and shoot he mob. Not many can fap-up 150 Hp after a hit and still have time to shoot before the next hit. |

I think it is Stryker that is fond of saying that the best defensive skill is health and the best armor is centurion (coat), but that's assuming a nice FAP.
In any case, armors like Angel have become niches status symbol just like Shadow did a good while back. With Ghoul and Phantom going for less than 10k vs. the comparable Tiger and Jaguar at many times that, the dichotomy between investment and utility armor is becoming more extreme all the time. Now that it's clear that the unlimited crafted armor ends at Ghoul, Angel is also taking on Hummer status. I'm a bit of an armor snob and eco nut, so i've never even used armor higher than gremlin; i can't fathom why the majority of people would need that kind of protection on a regular basis due to its (decay) cost. However, those buying Angel are also the kind who are not likely to be too obsessed with their decay bill, and consequently are also the kind to be willing to throw a wad of PEDs at it. |
