Are we sure that's how it works?

That would be like a creature hitting your with tooth, claw and sting Simultaneously - which doesn't seem very likely IRL...

I always figured that creature will hit with Impact 72% of the time, Burn 15% of the time, and Electric 13 % etc...

This is noticeable when fighting a mob with multiple attack types in armour that only provides protection against one of those attacks...
You end up getting...

Damage : 1
Damage : 1
Damage : 45
Damage : 1

etc...

Now I could be wrong, as I haven't tested, but this is just how it seems...

All the same, terrific post, Useful and comprehensive.

We are sure how it works based on lots of testing of armor decay with various armors against various mobs, and it works as Oleg posted. You get each damage type with each hit.

Maybe in your example of 1,1,45,1 you forgot to put on the foot guards

Actually, I've done that by going to hunt electric mobs in ghost with gremmi feet--get quite a shock every so often. Aurora boots are clunky, but much better for the zappers.

100% sure.

Actually it's not really even about %s, it's about discrete amounts of damage per type, which means that the % split can vary between maturities.

Unfortunately I think this will mean that much of kebplay's list is wrong, if it was based on an incorrect assumption of how mob damage works.

That's a damn long post

Although, if i got jimmy B.s thread on "How armor works" right, it doesn't matter what % the single damages have, if a mob does i.e. acid & impact, it will always protect full acid + full impact damage (+ acid + impact of the plates), no matter if its 90% impact & 10% acid or the other way round...

And is it really necessary to list even armors/plates that doesn't protect at all? Maybe delete them for the sake of readability.

Oh, and a +rep for your effort!

I think you don't have Jimmy B's thread quite right. What he wrote was that armor protection and plate protection are calculated separately, then added together and the total damage reduced by the total. That means that against an impact/cut/stab mob that does 10 damage of each type (30 total), if you have armor that protects 10 impact (but no cut/stab) and plates that protect 10 impact (but no cut/stab) you would get protection of 20 against the total damage of 30, so you would take just 10 damage.

The % of damage types for a mob do determine how much the armor and plates can each protect. If a mob does 10 imp and 2 cut, an armor that protects 9 imp and 9 cut would only give 11 protection (9 for imp + 2 for cut).

I second that, very good effort but incorrect starting assumption
