With the change in the armor decay formula with VU 9.1 comes the need to rediscover the formula for decay per damage taken. In order to help Witte et. al. recalculate, post your armor decay testing results here.
BTW, the sweat method of testing decay is easier than ever now since the TT doesn't round up anymore, it truncates values beyond 1 pec: 1. Put on your armor 2. repair it to full repair 3. go take a hit from a mob (or friend) that always does more damage than your armor protects 4. check which part(s) took decay, and unequip them 5. go to TT and place one armor piece in the sell area, and note the difference between full tt and the current tt 6. place a stack of sweat into the tt with the armor piece. Your goal is to get the smallest stack that will increase the total sale by 1 pec. Make sure you keep all the sweat in one stack--you cant add a bunch of 1 sweat stacks. Then the formula to determine decay (in pecs) is: (Full tt - current tt)*100 - 1 + (#sweats/1000) ped Example: Settler harness takes one hit from a bot, 1 damage protected. Good initiative, Coop_. This move is quite surprising on the surface, because it does seem like they've shifted the curve so that uber armors are much cheaper to wear. Recoda is reporting about 50% less decay on 90 dmg absorbed in angel. I think it was done so that really powerful (L) armors don't have to have high tts to last sufficiently long. Part of the "bigger and better (L)" initiative that has been going on with weapons--now extended to armor. So much for the reign of mod pixie...

Settler is a v low durability armour, anyone who can do a test with something a little better?
I will be doing some tests during the week: During 9.0 i carried out two runs of 100k ammo fired into tantillions, which are multiple fast attacking low damaging mobs. In the first 100k ammo run i took 31.63 PED gremlin decay (durability: 2950) and 22.20 5b decay. In the second 100k ammo hunt these numbers were lower and I will update this post to reflect that when I get home. Over the course of a few days I will do a post VU 100k ammo hunt and compare the results. Over tham much ammo the decree of change will be obvious 1 way or the other, if in fact at all. Im getting some very weird results. Im testing on daikiba OA, which is supposed to do 100% impact. The creature hit me 5 times:
30.2 39.3 42.6 21.0 35.0 I suspect the 42.6 to be a hit on my feet. On ghoul, the decay was: Harness: 3.07800 pec Arms: 3.53200 pec Face: 3.303 pec Shin: 3.423 pec This either means: *Daikiba doesnt do 100% impact *Different armor parts decay differently *Decay is also dependent on total damage, not just absorbed damage hmmm lotsa testing needs to be done ![]() |
