Makeup Mystery...

Hello all!

The beauty section has some interesting information, and alot of great screenshots of all the fascinating possibilities that can be achieved with hair, bodysculpting, and makeup. However, I have been unable to find detailed information about makeup use on a makeup mask.

I understand there are small and large makeup masks, and I know the TT value (200 ped for large if I'm not mistaken). About how much are masks currently selling for, and who makes them and sells them?

Once you have a mask, you need makeup... is there a specific amount of makeup needed to successfully create a mask? Like for clothes, a couple hundred cans of paint are usually required to insure appropriate saturation. If you are to use say, lip gloss, do you need a couple hundred, or will one do?

How about face paint, eye shadow, etc etc... will just one of the required color be sufficient to complete a mask?

How about rough and smooth makeup remover?

Lastlly, is there a tool to purchase to apply the makeup to the mask? Can the mask be created anywhere, or does it need to be done in a beauty chair?



Obviously I have alot of questions, so any information that you are willing to share is greatly appreciated. I thank you in advance for your input, and look forward to learning more!

Should be no poblem to find one at auctions, not sure about current prices though.

One per color you use is enough

Sure, if you just want some black stripes or a tattoo, black face paint will be enough.

Makeup is painted to the facemask, freehand (and mirrored to the other half of the face), makeup remover works like a rubber, deleting previously applied facepaint.

All you need is a mask, but afaik, you can try without (you work will just be lost then), there are buttons in the action book, to start a "makeup session", you can even target yourself (click your own healthbar next to the radar).

There are other makeup related buttons, too, like focus camera on certain parts of an avatar, as well as buttons that increase/decrease brush/pen size.

Well, the rest works like every simply paint program...

Oh, and maybe let me add the following:
You can try as often as you want, the materials used for the makeup will be consumed when you finally upload it (which results in a facemask with the makeup on it), if you don't upload it, the materials will be still in your inventory when you're done. (But your work will be gone)

(Maybe check MA's guides on ports and such used for upload, maybe someone else can provide a link, bit too lazy atm )

Masks are not possible to sell (and thus to buy) on the auction.

But there are plenty in shops. Freyr and Etopia has some.
Usual current prices are around 160% for Large masks (tt = 200) and 200% for Small ones (tt = 150). Don't know how much for Mediums though.

So, if it works like a paint program, do you have a color selection of only the makeup materials you have in your inventory?

I guess that is what confuses me... does the MA makeup software understand that you can't apply black eyeliner to the lips, or can you slap on some blue facepaint as eyeshadow?

At Twin Peaks Mall

You may also check auctumas shop at PA Mall, have seen some masks there, too.

Many other crafters can do facemasks, too. So it may be worth jsut checking all shops in a Mall or other shops like TI City, Sakura, Omegaton West aso. aso.

Applying makeup is additive. You can apply colors on top of other colors, and the most recent color is the top layer. You pick up the makeup item you want to use, and apply it. You only get the color that the particular makeup item has. Also, it seems like you can use any makeup tool on any part of your face; you can thus apply blue eyeliner to your lips, if you wish.

A major problem (IMO) with makeup remover is it's *NOT* an "undo"; it erases EVERYTHING beneath it; if you have 5 intricate layers of color and you make a pass with the remover, it removes ALL layers down to the bare skin.

Makeup application interface really needs an "Undo" button. After 5 slips, through your own fault or not, you'll be pulling your hair out.

So, the black lipstick is the same as the black eyeliner is the same as the black facepaint? You could use it anywhere? Or the red, or whatever?

What if I have only say, yellow facepaint and blue eyeliner in my inventory... will other colors, such as red or white, still show up in the makeup application program interface?

As far as I know, lipstick won't work anywhere besides the lips.

Eyeshadows works everywhere.

What exactly is the difference between Small, Medium and Large facemasks? (except their TT)

They look the same to me?
