I am still just a raw nOOb, so I don't know much - yet. But I was walking around Atlantis last night and a question occurred to me.

Seems that people choose to show themselves to the world in a couple curious ways.

1.) Full Armour. Why do avatars walk around the city in full armour including helmets and facemasks where there is little or no chance of encountering danger? Is it a status symbol? Symbol of what? Having really expensive armour could mean you've been playing a long time and earned it all, or it could mean you deposited a good chunk and just bought it. Personally, I find it uncomfortable dealing with ava's with face masks and helmets where you can't see their faces. I ride a motorcycle IRL and would never consider walking around the Mall or down a city street with my helmet, Full leathers, and gloves on. Okay, I wear the leather jacket around sometimes, but not when it's hot out.

2.) Underwear. What's up with that? You start the game with free clothes. (albeit an unsavory orange, like prisoner's togs) Of course, first thing I did with my first money (a small deposit and a little sweat) was buy normal (well normal for Entropia, I would never dress like this IRL) clothes. Is running around in your underwear fun because it's something we can't do IRL?

I mean, it's all good, Entropia is a free country (well not really free$$) but politically free, nobody will arrest you for carrying guns or running around naked (can you do that?) so that's part of what makes it cool. I'm just curious is all.

Because of the decay from taking armour on and off some people are so tight fisted they choose not to remove it .....ever!

Nooo you can't run around butt naked, people do what they do because they can and a million other reasons that might seem plausible to one but baffle the other?

It's all good fun, good luck on your adventures!

All the best.

Well to answer ur first question - it now costs pec to remove armor - so people are not as readily willing to take it off. Some because they don't want to spend the pec, and others sheerly out of principle. But all of your other speculations run true as well. For some it's a status symbol, others prefer the way their armor looks over the crappy clothes they may be wearing, while for someone like me, I just can't be bothered taking my armor off.

As far as your second question - my response is "why not?". If it were socially acceptable to run around in ur drawers IRL - I am sure MANY people would do it. Nope - ya can't run around nekkid anymore. Such a shame!!!

Good luck!!

I for example didnt take my armor off even before the 1pec tax, simply because i couldnt be bothered. Since i spend most of my ingame time outside in the wilderness and not in the city and also Im not much into fashion...

I take off my armor after a hunt and everytime I enter a city, the 2 pec decay is a small tax to pay to look good . Besides I am wearing about 1500 ped worth of clothing no way am I going to be covering it up. My chosen profession is Coloring so I think it behooves me to be in normal clothes when I can, and doing business in town.
