The thoughts of a dragon

Mistakes, and some goals.

Shit. I SWORE this would never happen to me. Guess who just TT'd a few A-104 amps? Sent a support case and hope that at least I can get ONE back. Relatively cheap item compared to some I know, but still have that horrible sick feeling - especially after doing something bloody stupid. So how'd it happen?
There at Nate Valley coming back after a hunt and planned to restock on ammo and repair. Now 99.9% of the time I run in, do repairs FIRST and then chuck everything into the TT after putting amps back on guns and equipping any other loose items. To prevent just this mistake. However this time I accessed the TT first, just to top up ammo. At that point someone said goodnight in soc chat, and so off goes my attention to bid them farewell. For some reason I switched to auto mode - stuffed the amps in the TT and hit confirm. Basically paying as much attention to the game as Mexicans do to the US border. But this is when I realised the 'repair bill' was oddly low. "Ah, nearly!" I thought, realising it was the TT "That'd be a dumb mistake, haha!". Went up and hit the cancel button in the receipt window.
TT closed, no amps in inventory.
I thought CANCEL meant abort transaction? Wtf? Three possible explanations as to why:
1) Lag or general computer slowness. It's possible that at the last second the mouse pointer jumped a little too far and hit the edge of the confirm button
2) I'm stupid enough to confuse 'Confirm' and 'Abort' (unlikely)
3) I'm mistaken and actually did hit confirm
Am I pissed off? A little, but considering I got those amps when they were TT junk in the first place, it ain't so bad. No loss really. Furthermore on the bright side at LEAST I didn't do it with my Jag armour or something. If MA give me one amp back, great. If not... oh well, live and learn.
What annoys me is that I caught the mistake in time. But for some reason the whole thing... well... went wrong.
PLEASE MA, allow items to be locked so they cannot be traded! Evidently the system needs to be more idiot proof.
In other news I've finally acheived that goal I set a while back - get 60, 40, 40, 9, 40 attributes. Got 60 agility a few nights ago after spending the last few weeks on Feffoids, so yay for me. Currently am at:

So time to get strength up a bit, perhaps to 50. Since that requires skilling naturally, by that time the melee skills will probably clock me over to medium health too. Really not far off now, especially after having chipped some mining skills in.
I also swear luck is running out. Seriously. Loots been pretty good to me so far, averaging one or two globals a day - so no complaints there. But see if you see a pattern here:
I hunt Feffoids for two weeks, 7 to 8 hours a day.
10K Feff HoF the day I don't log on.
Hunt Troopers for a few nights instead. Loot is terrible.
Choose to go hunt Atrox for a change. 4.4K Trooper HoF.
Decide to go back to Troopers since loot apparently is good.
12K Atrox HoF.
Thing is, it keeps happening! Every time I switch area, or don't log on for a day, that VERY mob I'm camping will loot really well. So, know what? I'm gonna make a business out of this. A HoF service. I'll camp something for a week, then you can hunt there the day I don't log on. It's guaranteed to be a good run!
Thing is loots not bad for me. Breaking even most of the time. I'm just amazed at the coincidence that every time I'm NOT there, something big drops!
Also been having fun with these user profile thingys. It's a cool addition to EF, although looking at some profiles it's reminiscent of MySpace. Been a bit nosey and have poked through peoples profiles to see what they're like. Problem is they record who has visited them, so I can no longer sneakily stalk... err... spy... no... erm, look at peoples info. One thing has stood out though: one or two profiles looking busy.
Let me explain. A lot of people on EF have very good graphics skills, and should be commended for their work on Photoshop. Don't get me wrong, they're good. But some seem to take profile customisation as an excuse to spam as much graphics as possible. The result? A horribly cluttered page where reading info is difficult. A few times now I've clicked a profile link and suddenly had the virtual equivalent of a punch in the face. Wham! 20 different clashing textures. Text almost illegible. Backgrounds that have big lines in them where they've been tiled. It's like someones graphics folder has suddenly exploded onto my screen.
Pick a few colours that work well together and stick with them. Keep things simple. There is no need to inadvertantly make a profile thats akin to a '70s disco, along with a huge collection of textures people didn't even know existed. Maybe this is just me but... yeah, you get the point?
Had one or two comments about mine in game so far. To answer questions:

Had one or two comments about mine in game so far. To answer questions:
- Yes, I did do those little dragon characters.
- Yes, they're me.
- 2 hours, a Wacom tablet and Photoshop. Hence they're a bit crappy since they were rushed.
- No, I can't make any for you unless ya want a dragon. Can't draw humans at all. Unless you count stick men.

Okay, got a support reply back which basically tells me to get lost, the amps are gone. Too bad.
So I'm in two minds whether or not to send this as a reply: Hi, Let's be honest here. YOU probably have an avatar in EU that you play right? Just like an average player? I bet if this happened to you, the first thing you'd do is sneak off during a lunch break and place 'em back in your inventory. Wouldn't you? Yes, Arokh knows. I'd probably do it too. ![]() Now, we could work something out here. Perhaps at least one 104 amp could 'somehow' return to your inventory, we meet up in game, trade it back to me... and I'm sure I could compensate you for the trouble *cough*PED*cough*. Sort of an off the record deal ya know? I'm happy, you're happy. No questions asked. Lemme know if you're interested. ![]() Is it against EULA to bribe support? |
