DJ's Job

Met the most bizarre client today, such an extrovert, I thought I handled her well, so what does that make me LOL?
Although in truth, I did think to myself ‘omg your mad’ lol.
Her pony however was a refreshing sight.
Full up weight, nice muscle tone, such a well cared for animal
I complimented her on it.
Man, I love this woman!
She was full of pride when I did.
This makes such a difference to me, to turn up, and see a pony well loved, and given the care it should have!
Well fed, and exercised, absolutely full respect to this woman!
I was starting to get nervous, there was no way she would accept my price for this pony?
There was nothing wrong with it, nothing I could ‘fix’.
I checked it over, couldn’t find fault, watched it work, couldn’t find fault.
The time was coming when I had to look her in the eye and talk business.
I tried stalling (omg what a t%at) offered to go to the car for some additional paper-work..
**STALLING**
She didn’t move, I leant back against the wall, in a ‘well it can wait’ kind of way, so lets talk price NOW then shall we?
Not that I wanted to!!
No more seconds to spare, the time had come, even my colleague was giving me the ‘stare’
It’s my job btw, to do the talking.
It’s my job to deliver that line.
It’s vile, I can tell you, to look someone square in the eye, and put your cards on the table.
You can’t flinch, you can give them a solid reason why you offer that, but it doesn’t make it any easier.
I did something I have never done before, on seeing such a nice pony, I asked her what figure she had in mind.
She wouldn’t commit, and fired the question straight back at me ‘what would YOU pay’
My colleague and I always stick to the same figure, she knows it and vice versa.
But because I’m the one that does the ‘business’ she waits for me to say.
The Pressure Is On.
My colleague must be wondering, and knowing her, laughing to herself, fully enjoying the moment, what I am going to do and say.
*Let me squirm mate, np *
I do it, look her straight in the eye, and say it, the time had come, I had to!
Do it in my dead-pan way, justifying why I offer that price.
She agrees!!
I will say though, in my defence, I love animals, I will never see an animal come to harm in my care.
Never send it to a home that I think unfit.
Regardless of price, I think she made a wise choice selling it to me.
Not only that, a wise choice, hopefully it says a lot about me, she trusted me to do the right thing, in regards to this creature she so obviously loves
I hope I see more of this, people caring more about animals than money.
I also want people to realise, if you take on an animal, its for life, a life commitment, almost like a child.
FFS dont buy it, would you have a child and say..well I cant be bothered to pay for shoes anymore? Its upkeep and food?
Well, this forum isnt here as a vent for animal rights (and God forgive, im not one of them btw, I eat meat, have hunted etc)
What I am against is people not carrying out their responsibilities.

Hmm, so many questions... What really caught my eye - why do you say striking the deal is vile? Is it guilt over a perceived low price not valuing the other persons trade. Or is it fear of being challenged?

Dunno, will have to think about it, maybe some truth in your first guess.
