Like many of you (I suspect), I came to Calypso to leave behind a life inviable. Here's to hoping that I can find a new one worth living here. Here's how it all started.
Project Überhof: Scipulors, small
Posted 04-11-2008 at 14:32 by Doer
This is the log of my quest for a Scipulor überloot as mentioned in Scipping Orders of Magnitude. I haven't looked at the results for the scip hunts separately, so this is a chance to sort and compile them. My tendency has been to go elsewhere when the loot is particularly bad, so my most lossy hunts have been on other mobs and aren't accounted for here.
2008.2.10 - 2008.4.10
Professional Standings
Laser hit: 55.5
Laser dmg: 55.5
Evader: 33.5
Paramedic: 24
Health: 152-155
Skill-based stats from Entropedia (w/ attachments)
Eco: 2.84 (2.90) dmg/pec
Damage: 54.3 (55.7) dmg/s
Output
Ammunition: 23,925
Weapon & amp: 4832
FAP: 283
Armor: 1659
ME: 120
Total: 30,699 PEDs
Time: 92 hours (hunting time only)
Results
TT Loss/Gain: -2562
Markup: 2766
Items: 10x HL8, 5x HL11, 1x PUG 9, 149 PEDs ESI
HOFs: 1.7k Formidon, 575 Scip, etc.
Total net: +204
Skills (net): 2200 (laser combat professions only)
Notes: It really took some getting used to grinding always-loot mobs. Every single Scipulor has loot, even if only a PED. Because it costs about 5 PEDs to killl one, regular globals are needed to make up the difference. It seems that approximately 50% of the loot needs to come from big drops to break even, so I have come to expect about one global per 100 PEDs ammo (==~125 PEDs decay) on average. I started off doing 600 PED ammo hunts, and am now taking 750 PEDs to better make use of the commuting time.
I have had one hunt with no globals and a couple with only two globals. Both cases resulted in huge losses, of course. I'm still trying to figure out if it is necessary to actually hunt through those periods to get the big HOFs. Happily, I got one eventually, but it doesn't help answer the question.
Comments: Three things. First, I'm completely floored that my first two months are a modest profit, something I had not suspected.
My overall balance for that period is definitely not that way.
Second, i'm not hunting as much as i thought i was. My average output is ~500 PEDs/day, although there was another 17k ammo on other mobs during this time. I actually sneaked off to tants a couple times when i was tired of bad loot
. Finally, that armor decay bill really makes a strong case for the value of Evader. It's too bad that it's just not possible to unlock Quickness, let alone Intuition, for the CND generation — thank you, fapskillers. My health and Evader moved along decently during this time, thanks to a relatively recent unlock of CS, but both have slowed to a crawl again. Still no 1k+ Scipulor...

Thanks. The next 2 month update is going to be interesting, no doubt.
![]() <tinfoilhat>I posted this blog 12 hours before my big ESI looted.</tinfoilhat> Put that in your "Project X" thread phenomenon pipe and smoke it. ![]() My secret log story tells how i came to Calypso and ended up with my gear. It's accurate in the particulars about my gear, but only semiautobiographical with regards to RL. |

I see ero got his third 20k scip earlier, so i'm going to take a break from hunting for a bit. If anyone needs me i'll be at a crafting terminal or doing important stuff IRL.
