Defend your Claim: Season 2

Here is chance for all you miners out there to prove yourself. After a very good first season and a dew weeks off, Defend your Claim is back. It's time for you miners out there to get your glory. The second season will be a 10 round event series with a total prize pool of over 7.000 Ped!

Location and time
All events will take place on CND every Friday at 19.00 MA.
Event duration is 1 hour, during the event there will be live commentary on CND's Live stream and great music.

Ticket costs
Event ticket costs 25ped, these can be bought from Sodi and Freyr or you can register directly at the terminals in the fertilizer room (Tickets have to be registered in the fertilizer room at the appropriate terminal)

League Scoring
Every registered competitor receives 1 point.
After each event top 8 miners will receive points for the league scoring.

1st place +12
2nd place +10
3rd place +8
4th place +5
5th place +4
6th place +3
7th place +2
8th place +1

Bonus points
Bonus points can be earned by posting your globals and hof's,
every 5th global or every 3rd hof gives you 1 bonus point.
globals/hofs can be stretched over multiple events but they have to be (re)posted together to receive points.

Rules
Because MA hasn't implemented a way to keep score of the points in events like these, Defend your Claim will mostly to be a screenshot event. The following screenshot rules apply :
All screenshots must have a timestamp (C) and your claim deed must be open with claim size visible.
All screenshots must be posted within 48 hours after the event has ended.

Event types
There are four different event types : Highest Single Claim, Most Claims, Highest Total Claim size and Most Different mineral types found.

Highest Single Claim (HSC) : The miner with the Highest Single Claim wins this event.
An easy event for everyone to follow, whoever gets the highest claim (global or maybe hof) wins. Points for the league scoring will be given out according to Claimsize (posting of screenshot not necessary, event usually gets more then 8 different people with a global, but could still be useful if less)
Should there be a tie in a claim size below global value then both miners get equal points if above global value the amount of peds decides your place in the ranks.

Most Claims (MC) : The miner with Most number of Claims wins this event.
Exactly as it sounds in this event type every claim counts no matter of size.
If there is a tie here then the miner with the highest total value of claim sizes wins the event, this works for remaining places in top 8 in same way.

Highest Total Claim (HTC) : The miner with the Highest Total Claimsize wins this event.
This means that after all screenshots are in all the claimsizes of each miner are added up and the miner with the highest total claimsize value wins the event.
If we have a tie here the miner with the least amount of claims wins.

Most Different Minerals Found (MDM) : The miner that finds Most Different types of Minerals (ores & enmatter) wins this event.
This means that the miner that can find the most different types of ores and enmatter within the hour wins. In the event of a tie we will simply split the season points between the ties, and for prizes the first one that post their finds wins.

As stated before this will mostly be a screenshot event series all event prizes will be handed out before the start of the next event. We hope you understand that there will be a lot of screenshots and some calculations before event winners can be decided and league points can be given. But we really want everyone to have good time and a fun series. Since it seems MA is in no rush to change the event system this for now is unfortunately the only way.

Prizes:

Since there is no option to turn off the hunting part in the event settings all events will be set to highest single loot.
A small prize will be rewarded to the person with the highest loot.

Hey, I live at CND and i'm a full time miner. Yet, this event just dosn't sound fun at all to me. Ofcourse I didnt participate in the last event because it lacked creativity and substance too. Better luck next time with being creative people. This miner will not participate!

Hm, I am astounded at this harsh critique of the DYC event. I am not a participant either (thus not particularly biased), but from what I heard and saw this event was fun for a lot of people, so I am at a loss to understand this attack (troll spree?). For one, MA's event management system doesn't leave too much space for highly individualistic event set-ups. And on the other hand, what would you expect from a mining event but mining? Singing a song backwards while bombing along?

Would be interested to hear your suggestions for a better and "more creative" event....

I was a participant last season, actaully got 2nd place in teh whole serie and was on every event. And i thought it was an awesome event, and i think its crative enough. I mean, as Clyphan said, this is what we can do with the event system we have today. Considirng also that this is not only the biggest mining event its also on of the very few mining events in EU.

So Im not really sure what you expect, but its the best there is!


Anyway, back to the topic.
I think this season will be even better!

where is the defending of a claim? Am i missing something? You should definately enable pvp at the last 20 mins of the event in which a participant with the last claim they have gotten has to defend it against 5 or so pkers (they dont have to be insanely armored or armed) that scour the dome during those last minutes. If the person guarding their claim gets killed they get zero points but if they kill their attackers they get a certain point value for each kill. :P The points total for the winner could be one extra little event! ;D

Second, not a bad idea Zippo, but usually when someone mines and got PK'd it ruins the fun

Yes, as this is a mining event we have chosed not to have PvP enabled. If miners were hunting they wouldn't be mining:P This is for miners to have fun, and ask any miner that been in dome 16 same time as a dasp team if it's any fun The name came up from defending your claim against mobs, a good miner have to be able to stand up against the foes out there to rwach his spot.
