First of all, thanks for all the hard work Etopia - this valuable information is much appreciated!!
One question that has not been asked yet (I think?) is how success in crafting is defined. I assume from the thread that Etopia (and most others) consider success to be simply the item you are crafting being created. However, I think it's important to consider "partial" success in any discussion about COS. - failure - materials gone - failed to make item, but res or materials returned - item made with low tt - item made somewhere between minimum/maximum condition - item made with maximum tt + some amount of residue/bp/gemstones added At the end of the crafting session, I judge my success/failure by different outcomes depending on what I am crafting - for items that are destined for the tt, it's the total tt value of all the items + the residue + bp's/gems less the cost of the materials used to craft them. For non-limited items that I will sell on the auction, it's the quantity more than the tt value that is more important. Sure, leave the COS bar maxxed on quantity if you are making items that are not limited, but for limited items that might not be the best choice. I myself was content to craft in the beginning with the COS maxxed for quantity, but as my skills developed, I have found that low level bp's (even with 100 qr) don't produce well at all with that setting. I'm sure other crafters have experienced this as well. If total tt value is what I'm after, I find I am more successful with the COS bar set somewhere less than max on quantity. |

My thread is about REAl COS crafting , point is to calculate cost to successful craft an item to sell it.
When you know your real COS , and go for a "long" run on an item , with you material price , you can know in advance what kind of price item will be , and so , know if it worth cliking or not. If i was making a thread about skilling ( wich i sometime think of) .I would first speak about average TT back , cost on 1 click , real cost on 1 click with all counted, ration enmateur metal residu...Wich all lead when the right data used the right way , to find using som bp with highter cost material can be cheaper in the end of a very long run. The point here is really to provide something that help crafter to cacul cost and sell item. BTW , i can not do test on that , but i do bielive L bp are somehow at 50% REal success... |

I am a very noob crafter, I have only taken 2 bps to 100 - filters, dampers, I never seemed to get my best return on quantity, in fact I barely ran there, most of it was at full quality. I seemed to always end up with about the same amount of the tt product when finished on 2.5 to 5K runs but I percieved the amount of reside to be much higher. Sorry I have no data, but that was my perception.

Very interesting thread, it can be used for almost anything. A bit off topic: Is there kinda map what server is used for what area. |

This is very important when you want to calculate if something is worth clicking. Do you calculate with an average return for every bp ? Or is the return constant when a bp has reached QR 100 ? I am not into crafting yet, so my question might be quite stupid, in which case I apologize . But at least I do read EF for a couple of weeks on a subject before I start something, to avoid mistakes and more stupid questions Thanks in advance, Quint |

Quint, first of all that is not a stupid question
![]() In 1 click you cant know what amount you will get but you can know on average what you will get after 500 or 1000 clicks (the more clicks, the more accurate you will be). For example: After over 10k clicks on basic sheet metal I can tell you that you get about 60% of the TT value of resources used in TT value of basic sheet metal (excluding residue). Every run I did was very close to that, even smaller ones of 400 clicks. Since it is a level 1 bp I barely felt a change as my skills and QR went up, for higher level bp's you would expect this number to rise with higher QR and skills. The residue is a different matter, there is a very big variance in the amount you get in a run. If you want to see if a bp is worth crafting you can use a low estimate for residue return to stay on the safe side. I hope this helps Kosh |

It certainly does, thanks and +rep
So in fact you should try to find out the average TT return for every bp before you can calculate. Let's hope this TT return is about the same for let's say all lvl 1 bp's, that would make it a bit easier (and cheaper ).At least I know now how to calculate whether a bp is worth buying/using. Thanks again and good luck crafting ! |
