The Life of a Newbie - Days 3 & 4

I really hate to mention this but i've been playing 3 years and still havn't graduated ^^! just a few months ago did I really understand this entire game as I had not been able to play so often until I got my own computer...I also deposited the first time this summer...jumping from maybe 600-800 rifle all the way to almost 1700 rifle...so this will be interesting depositing is very helpful...wish I was old enough to deposit...have my own bank account...when I started...Oh anyway I to had a dead mentor who no longer appeared after day 2 I believe...of course by the time I realized I needed to boot her it had been 6 months and I was to skilled...noob awareness has really improved I agree...it takes an hour or 2 to introduce someone to the game and if they want join them to a society...teach them the art of sweating, all of my newbie students never come back )-= lol! but thx for this article pinky as i'm still a noob I hope everyone can be that much more helpful after this is done...really no point in this message just a few thoughts Gl on the story!

Actually my society has been very, very helpful. They just misunderstood what I was hinting at.

I felt as a noob I would be unlikely to have picked up on the mentor thing (as he had only been missing 2 days at this point) so was trying to drop subtle hints about graduation to get one of them to ask who my mentor was - I then could have spewed my guts I was just too subtle I guess (not something I am accused of often!

Just wanted to make sure it was clear that the society are great! - You will see more about that as time goes on

Loving the idea of the articles hon, well done I can imagine how hard it is to 'forget' all that you know and be an innocent again, was thinking the whole bad mentor thing is something that is so common, without the knowledge you do have about that problem, you may well have been stuck with it unless you did try gently to get someone to advise you. A tricky one that, Pinky knows she needs to kick him, but the complete noob wouldn't know that and would possibly not learn about it until it was too late (like I did and many others). Just wondering if the experience could be more geniune (though frustrating as hell I know) if your little noob just soldiered on not realizing she didn't have to be stuck with a mentor who was no help?

The mentoring program and lack of information to those fresh off the ships about that program is one of my pet gripes I guess. I didn't discover EF for ages after joining the game and I do think that for many a bad experience so early in the game with that system is a big problem.

The thing with armour is that most new participants cant afford to use it if they arent depositing. They are better off sticking to small mobs that they can take out without having to wear armour.

But it is true, you would be surprised at what can make a new participants day and hopefully make him stick around long enough to get really hooked. Took my disciple to Neas (his request) the other day and had two globals on formidon and one on ambulimax on the way, he was astonished.
