Its not that hes no good..
its just he should never have had the option to become a mentor.. Only time i talk to him is when i say hello..thats it.. I was under the impresion mentors were to help new players.. If its only to get some gift,,thats whative been reading..then its a sad set up.. The new player gets nothing butsilence and if there lucky maybe someone who cares about getting new people in to keep game up and going.. I saw what pinks mentor did and yes i met him in game.. If you can not speak proper english or some language i understand, then sorry i will not take you as a mentor.. Please dont get me wrong...i have np with players from around the world..thats what i like about online games... you get penpals from all over and no snell mail needed..hahaha Ive been playing online games since early middle 80,s ..yes they were around back then.. God im fealing old now.. but i think they need to think about this mentor set up.. The only person who should be rewarded,,and thats in knoledge is the new player.. Not the person giving them answers..Just jnowing you helped someone is good enough.. |

Yes Fried, you are probably right, Mentors should need to be qualified in some way, either by having a minimum skill level or by having completed a Discipleship themselves, or some other regulated criteria.
Although some people think it has no benefit i am a fan of the Disciple being in the same Soc as the Mentor where possible. I think this helps build a rapore between Mentor and Disciple and a further rapore between Disciple and the Soc. If the Mentor isnt online the rest of the Soc is normally willing and keen to take the place of the Mentor in their absence, which means also you often have a Psuedo Mentor on most of the time and quite often have people of different languages on, if the Soc has evolved that way. I agree though, there should be a higher requirement of knowledge, which would normally be based on Skill levels or experience before someone can become a Mentor. All the best ![]() Cloud |

This thing is getting boring.
I think for a Mentor to get his skill points and a gift, there should be some kind of tests the disciple has to go through after graduating, after which only the mentor will get the skills/gifts. Also there must be something(any crap) given to the disciple as well. |

I think mentoring should have some kind of reputation system just like the events do.
When the disciple graduates he should get to give his mentor a point from 1-10 and then these points should be averaged on a (points/# of ratings) formula. When a mentor accepts a disciple, this rating should appear for the disciple with a description of what it means. As a matter of fact, I think the entire "disciple pickup message" should be redone to state all the facts about what mentoring is about. As it is now, it's just a tiny message with the most basic stuff but things like unability to insert skills during the mentoring period or stuff like that should also be mentioned therein. It should also state that rating and tell them that a high rating of 10 is the best. (To prevent dishonest mentors from telling them a 1 is the best.) New mentors should have the text "Unrated" or a 0. And it should also tell them how many graduates the mentor has had. I think MindArk could describe the mentorship ideas better to the newbies in the mentoring message basically to prevent abuse. Some people will of course skip to read that text out of laziness but then that's their problems. I can't stand people who don't read through stuff and then asks what they just read or complain about not being warned. Sigh... But that's another matter :P Another nice thing would be to give high rated mentors a mentor symbol next to their names, kind of like the MA employees have stars. Salman, if it bores you you don't have to reply, lol.
Herb, yes, there may be a skill requirement already but from what i have read in the threads on EF most people think that a HIGHER skill level should be required. The current one can be achieved by someone who has barely a rudimentary knowledge of the game. Cloud ![]() |
