I imagine your mentro's face, really I had nearly same problem, I met my mentor in first day and later I hadn't seen him for half a year, I written support case, and because he wasn't online for a long time they deleted him. After some time he was back, and he told me he had problems with his PC and so on... Now we are good friends with him

Very interesting to read Pink - The mentor-scammer made my flesh crawl...
IF noobs regulary are scammed like this they sure will leave this game in anger and make negative PR.
That is lethal to our loved EU.....
It´s like cutting the branch we are sitting on!

I hope you report him to Mindark and that they lock his account asap.
I also hope MA -in a future VU- will make it possible to kick the mentor...
Perhaps even to make it possible to change mentor if your first is negligent and absent - the today-system seems to be to rigid and obsolete.
A good mentor is worth gold to MA....
Make the system a possibility for the newbie instead of a scam opportunity for a negligent selfish skiller!

and when it comes to Vladimir Aquilla Monomach lets him on sight if MA doesnt lock his account

Really awesome article Pinky
followed it all and Mega GRATZ to this nice 35 Pedder Beacon I have to say

Because of your Mentor its really a shame how he handled your Discipleship
In this way I for sure need to agree to FoxyLady`s Post before. It would be nice if MA would make it possible for Disciples to kick their Mentors when they try to do this.

I myself only can say its not only a Problem of Disciples, it also can be a Problem for a Mentor (like it happened to me) that you have a Disciple who got support with Help, Equipment and such...... leveling up to 50% or 60% of Discipleship and then disappearing ...... I really hope MA will make Mentoring and Discipleship more easy in case of scamming prevention

If your Mentor reads this post: LET HER FREE you scammer ok ?

awesome article, Pinky +rep

MUHahahahah to the mentor. I have been waiting soo long for you to release his name. Don't know him though... but now one can only hope the bastard reads EF or that someone who does sees him and tell him to go have a look on how FAMOUS he is now! May he never gain anymore skills in mentoring!

You seem to have Lootius on your side as a newbie though thinking of keeping the avi?

May Lootius bless you more!

Nowhere does Pinky accuse her mentor as being a scammer, only a poor mentor. People throw around the term "scammer" much too loosely in my opinion.

Also, note that the EF rule about naming avatars only applies to scamming accusations:

No such accusation is made in this article, so I fail to see why you are mentioning the rule.

Thumbs Up

As ever, great post
I would suggest that do include the Beacon in the total calculation... it's luck & /or a slight bias towards noob ( my 'MA wants to throw them a hook ' theory )
I looted 4 GSI's( old version of ESI @ 250ped each) & a global in my first 3 weeks.

I'm pleased that you came out with some profit ... It can be done lol

Well its DAMN close to be such an accusation

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Confidence_trick

Quote: Scam an Confidence trick

Well to start off, Pinky joined the mentor as a deciple since she was Confident he would take care of her, while the true reason he took her on, was to keep her locked as desciple and won't release her before 100% - when he gets the skill / item. What ever if he scam MindArk getting the skill and item, or use Pinky's avatar as an tool to get them and therefore lure her into being his desciple is still about gaining confidence.

False Reward tricks:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Confide..._reward_tricks
Quote:
The glim-dropper requires several accomplices, one of whom must be a one-eyed man. One grifter goes into a store and makes believe he has lost his glass eye. Everyone looks around, but the eye can’t be found. He declares that he will pay a thousand-dollar reward for the return of his eye, leaving contact information. The next day, an accomplice enters the store and pretends to find the eye. The storekeeper (the intended griftee), thinking of the reward, offers to take it and return it to its owner. The finder insists he will return it himself, and demands the owner’s address. Thinking he will lose all chance of the reward, the storekeeper offers a hundred dollars for the eye. The finder bargains him up to $250, and departs. The one-eyed man, of course, can not be found and does not return. (Described in A Cool Million, or, The Dismantling of Lemuel Pitkin (1934) by Nathanael West). Variants of this con have been used in movies such as The Traveller (1997) and Shade (2003).

Great series of articles, Pinky!

We actually had some conversations you and me, and I felt somethings not right or how I shall put it. I guess you not filling in your soc info despite I asked you several times was what triggered me.
But I never really expected snorkmaiden to be you, guess I was thrown off by the fact this took place before the first article if I'm not all wrong.

Anyway thanks for a nice series of articles and thank you for the kind words about NBK Legion, we try to be what you describe.

And as for your badass mentor, people like that do deserve their 15 minutes of fame

/ Lizz
