Rx communication - The fight is on!

Today at 13:00 Calypso time, another RX event was hosted by MindArk - with the announcement that a coded RX communication was intercepted. This time the fun took place at the Oil Rig in PvP2. One of the benefits of holding the event there was the fact that this was an event for all participants; the PvP2 zone is non-lootable and no Toxic Shots is required, so there was no risk of any cost to anyone other than the ammo and decay spent. In addition, only the killing shot was the one that counted, so even a Newbie in Pixie carrying an Opalo had the chance to get that last shot in, and indeed, some lower level players did manage to get one of the Korss 400 (L) pistols that were being dished out by 'MindArk Official 08' in Twin Peaks.

Some of the other winners were; Ben Cobra Boner, Neo The Famous Trader Sharp, and Axxel, Til, Ogulak'Da'Dragon and Dakusingh Musky Muk's, who all managed to score twice each!

Sadly, I missed most of the action, but arrived shortly afterwards to chat with some of the players who took part in the event. It took a few attempts to explain to everyone to stop shooting me every time I teleported in, but eventually everyone relented and shared tales from the event.

Skalman in particular was very happy that these events seem to be occurring on a more regular basis now, acknowledging the time and effort MindArk has been putting into them. Unlike most events, the RX events actually require MA employees to control the RX Units. This means physically taking time out from day-to-day activities and "playing" the game. It also makes it a lot harder to

kill one when no AI is involved!

A number of new players managed to get an express route to the rig via a wormhole to witness the event for themselves, giving them an easy route to the rig past the big Atroxes in the surrounding area. After the event, it was business as usual at the rig; anyone and everyone opened fire on each other... including me once again!

Finally, after just under two hours, the event was complete, with large Atrox spawning and anyone trying to grab the oil shot immediately. I would like to thank everyone who didn't shoot me on sight, but sadly I don't think there was any such avatars. Even Eps, who kept scolding everyone when they "accidentally" PKed me, managed it himself

Still, next time I see an RX communication from work, there is one thing you can be certain of... "err... boss.... I don't feel so good..."
