Trust me. "Dour" applies at all times with the Scots and you pretty much know where you stand with them. That's why I like them

Avoiding all other issues around this, Wikkerman's perception that the content was a bit "light" in terms of hard-hitting, game-related content is true. It was a nice write-up of a dinner with Ambassadors amd MA staff. In Skam's defense, the title of the article says it all "Dining with Mindark". Maybe they didn't want to talk shop or had nothing new to share...or Skam signed a Confidentiality Agreement and MA had editing rights to the article

. Whatever the reason for its light tone and light content, it is what it is and everyone is entitled to their opinion of anything posted here or the attention it gets, be it good or bad.

I liked it. It showed a more human side to MA and I thought it was a nice gesture from MA to the Ambassadors.

I find it a lot of talking for nothing here.... hurt feelings or not feeling being part of what has been going on last week in Göteborg.

All the ones that attend at the dinner whas players like everyone in the game. And some of them have workt for one week up to 14 h a day. And i can tell you (In ordenary convention is for just a few days) After a week the hole body hurts and repeting the same words over and over agen for 1000 of ppl, isent like a dance on roses.
Still this ppl whas doing it, and still with a smile. Witch means thay pick the right ambassadors

So a small dinner is nothing when u doing a projekt like this. And maybe that comes from the the companys that have invested in mindark. that is part of way ma let some companys in to get a budget for conventions and advertising. But im not sure im just gessing

Sec part is it takes a very big man to go down as a CEO of a company to spend some time with the players... and not just for 30 min and then just leave and take it as a job. He whas there spending time with the players that have help him promote the game and also have a drink with them as well.

And im 100 % sure that wont effect the loot in anyway.

What ppl dont understand is thay trying more and more to do good things for us in the entropia universe. And everytime there is a few that try to ruin what thay do and they wont do it agen.

ppl say bla bla Neverdie bla bla Skalman bla bla Neomaven is bed with mindark or work for them and so on. What we do is Help premote the game. Thats way we meet ppl at mindark. And its just marketing ppl and thay dont know anything about the economy in game or the loot system. We just do premoting for somthing we love. I know i destroying a lot of rumers and so on now and im sorry about that.

The good part is thay have made the ambassador system so ppl that love the game and are dedicated have the chanse to meet the ppl at mindark and see its for real and it has a long future. And the workers can keep in working on the upcomming vu's. And the ambasadurs does the premoting.

All my respect goes to Jan ,Frank ,Lars and Tom for taking time off and share that time with the ambassadors (im very sure thay planed somthing else irl like be with the famelys and so on, after all thay have workt with EU for 10 years)
Only that shows how didecated thay are to what thay do.

If Mindark could do NOTHING right, we wouldn't be where we are now, would we?

I never said Mindark can do no good...they do plenty of goods things. They also do bad things and they also (seem to) do nothing at times.

I give praise when they do good things, like this. I also share my displeasure when they do bad things...or nothing when there is room for improvement or things to fix. I am still here in the hope that my praise will outweigh my displeasure someday.

Look, I love my kids, but every once in a while...mmmm...man, oh, man, they get to me, but I don't go throwing them away. I have come to the conclusion that I am a "resident" of this universe and will probabaly never leave, but I also reserve the option of voicing my displeasure as I please and *try* to make suggestiosn for change or enact them myself, when I can.

The Ambassadors are a good move by Mindark. All my reservations about them aside, it shows MA working WITH it's players towards the future of the game. Their ivory tower is getting shorter, and for that I am happy and withholding any criticisms to give it a chance.

Nice gesture by MA. Nice article about a dinner with them.

I enjoyed the report, thanks Skam. To the peeps who expected her to bed/drug/torture some MA guy, the title of the thread aint "Double Agent Secrets Revealed"

Criticsim aint contstructive when it's used to bash ppl constantly. If it's ALWAYS 'That was a waste of time, cos X upsets me' then where we go? Sure we all have serious issues and lesser more general negative feelings, but we need to always look to how we can improve our loot.

Just imagine where we'd be if MA locked horns with us over certain issues, deciding to handle each and every problem before any action is taken elsewhere. We'd still be stuck with all sorts of major problems. 'No sry, we can't sort the rubber-banding. We're still in 6month long discussion about delivery of Vehicles.' I don't feel progression in other areas are dependant of everything being fixed first.

One thing we've asked for alot, is communication improvements. The action of ambassadors are a success introduced by player and MA working together, Entropia Radio interviews are a combination of player and MA working together. This is REAL progress, hard-work won not battles fought.

I think alot of fustrations are bourne from a feeling of lack-of-power, power also meaning influence. Now we see that the Entropian is not powerless, just ignorant sometimes to the larger picture.

Personally, I view MA as a govt. A prime-minister or a president can loose their position, they have to work hard to appease everyone - while at the same time remaining true to the goal they have. We vote for our leaders, day by day, each time we log in, each ped (decayed) and when we entrust our time and peds to EU. We respect the political structres in rl, I'd like to see a little more of this idea mirrored in EU. Sure we have our moan, etc. But at the end of the day, we know we're all basically sitting around the same table with a shared vision.

My vision is the advancement of a virtual world where boundaries are only imagination and current science/tech. Where the real world is mirrored but improved upon. The fact I can go to places I'd been 5 years ago is truly real. When I hear Alf saying he desires and designs mobs to be rooted in reality, that is exciting. When we take on someone elses viewpoint we see the goals are shared.

Okay!!!

Lets try to bring this all together and clarify my position.

MA rewarded ambassadors that had promoted Entropia at the International Science Festival with a meal and a few drinks.

Miss Skam, who was present, posted a small article about the event. I have absolutely no problem with this (other than possibly the "in the presence of greatness" tone applied to JWT's attendance

) nor with those who applauded her efforts.

The issue arose when the posts congratulating MA on this magnanimous gesture started rolling in.

I am sorry, but I would expect nothing less. The ambassadors gave up their time free of charge to promote a product that MA make money from. Inviting them for a meal and a few drinks while at the same time dishing out a few thousand peds, which will ultimately end up back in the game, is a drop in the ocean compared to the cost of employing people to stand up for 10+ hours a day.

Does anyone really think that MA courted and promoted Entropia to the Chinese and CK by dishing out ped cards worth a couple of thousand dollars???

The ambassadors love the game and are very loyal to it. As are all hard core, dyed in the wool, Entropians. However. there are times when this loyalty becomes unbelievably stupid and this was one of those times.

This was not an option for MA, it was full blown obligation and had they not made this gesture they would have been abusing that loyalty. So lets not get carried away with the praise.

We also learn that JWT attended and shared his visions and ideas for the future. Now I have no doubt this was fascinating and that he has a vivid imagination but I am a little tired of hearing about the future when the game has so many unresolved issues affecting it right now. As I hinted at in my original post, a good magician will always divert your attention away from what he does not want you to see. So it was very disappopinting to hear Miss Skam report that when she had tried to ask about current issues, at a gathering where you might just think MA would lighten up a bit, she still got the "no comment" response. At no time did I criticise her for failing to get further information as she seems to think.

It is all very well building the game up as a fantastic adventure for the future but if you ignore the foundation on which it is to be built then it is very quickly going to collapse especially when MA, as a very small fish in a very big pond, has ambitions, in the form its IPO, to move out to deep water and swim with the sharks.
