Great event idea, i agree to always find ways of having fun and help others make money and get somewhere, rather then the boring hunt, mine, craft, lose ped scenarios that entropia has been more then full of lately....but i have a discrepency that i find was unfair and was very byassed for the winners and the losers.
The winners for these best dressed events always seem to be the same people over, and over again. I feel that having judges that are too close to participants makes this a very unfair and more than unbalanced event. while yes, these events are originally intended for all good feelings, and fun times, I feel as an individual that people play favorites. It's human nature to like and dislike people over people, ESPECIALLY when some of the judges are very close with some of the participants in these events that are being hosted. I think that if events like this are held, different judges should be put in that arent as close of friends with the competition to everyone else. In this game we are looked upon by our given name, soc, and rep by others; and not everybody is as sociable and well known by the judges in the game, and i find are being overlooked for uniqueness and differences, and are only being looked at as general populous to be grouped together by others with. Most of the people that participate in these events are always hanging around each other, and have been for the most part, close knight friends in game for a few years. While I agree, these events hosted are meant for the participants to get out there more and have chances to be more sociable, have more fun, and make more ped in game...I find that it is being judged in all means by unfairness. Even if this is denied, most people out there should be able to see through the smoke and mirrors, like in real life people do with everyday politics, that even if words are said as no...there are signs and feelings that are being put out there as clear as day to show that what is being said is NOT their true intent as they previously handled situations that have been placed in their laps. While this post is picking apart key details that may have been overlooked, I feel that these events are wonderful to have around, but I feel should be more balanced for other players, as we always see the same names wearing these titles for winners and losers |

I'm playing Devil's Advocate ... and trying to bring an objective view into this. Specifically, I don't think that having n00bs judge a show like this would be advantageous in any way ... merely because they wouldn't have the experience with fashion ... other than through subjective personal likes and dislikes. Looking at a piece of art is the same thing ... it either moves you in one way or another, or is doesn't. The point being ... that when fashion is judged at contests such as this, a great deal more is taken into consideration ... especially since we now have a more advanced fashion industry ... like color, skin (if used), texture, enhancements, whatever the case may be, and for a n00b, they wouldn't necessarily understand this language or process. Also ... as with any other profession, the fashion industry has its highly skilled individuals who provide services to those who want to pimp out their look for these contests, and if someone has the means to engage in this process, then they're going to do everything possible to secure a win. This also means, that it makes it a bigger challenge for the judges in making their final determination. Quality is quality ... and when I look at who the first place winners are ... the outfits were incredibly unique, and I can understand why they won. David is a first-time winner, and while Zunami won Miss Entropia 2009, it doesn't mean that she wins all these contests. What it means is ... she goes the distance to enhance her look to give her a better opportunity AT winning. The 2nd and 3rd place winners are also not previous winners if my memory serves me correctly, so I'm not sure where that comment is coming from, other than Zunami winning. The question is ... do you by-pass someone decked out to the 9's just to give the award out to someone who hasn't won a fashion contest yet, even though their outfit may not quite compare with the quality of a potential winner? How fair would that be then. It would say that the judges in this case wouldn't be doing their job either. One thing though ... I DO agree with the point that any fashion designers should not be part of the judging panel ... especially if they had any part in helping to design outfits for contestants. There's the potential for having a bit of bias in the judging ... not to say there was, or ever has been ... just that the potential is there. Judges should be neutral and objective ... plain and simple ... and have a criteria established that awards points for each round of the competition ... just as this contest did ... but I can see the perception of conflict with the judges based on who they were. Oh, and ... thank you all for the nice comments, it's appreciated. ![]() . |

Hehe yes they actually did win some small prizes But it was for the great support they showed their soc mate, not the uniforms themselves, although it was pretty neat to see ![]() Quote:
Our goal was to find people who were well versed in the different aspects of the clothing industry. LeeLoo and Freyr for their knowledge of the effort it takes to tailor, design, and coloring. Lexi for her sense of fashion (She was a previous contestant in the Miss EU contest) and Max for his immense knowledge of materials that are used, rarities, values etc. Combined I feel we had a very nice panel of judges, each with varying tastes and styles. I can honestly say that nothing seemed biased from what I was reading, although I did get side tracked trying to organize the contestants in the 2nd and 3rd rounds. All in all I feel the event was a great success. It came off to a slow start but once we found our groove and a system that worked it started popping off great. You better believe that Mister + Miss CND 2010 will be like nothing you've ever seen before! Thanks again everyone! And think you MS9 for coming out to show your support and for writing this great article for us! Last edited by KiriMistPrinces; 05-25-2009 at 10:33.. |
