well, they're apparently according the Entropian, going to be adding additional planets, and eventually real space zones spaceships, and eventually real land combat and transport vehicles, amongst other things, so the name change is to probably facilitate this, and also with lots new staff, and the big graphics, chat and game physics overhaul, in the works, allot of bugs ought to be squashed, the game ought to play better, and hopefully look better.
PE has great potential, im an old time played since beta player of Ultima Online (plus i have played or am playing about 8 other mmos from the ugly to the beutiful) and am happy to play a good game without uber graphics, BUT if its a 3d game and im spending genuine mulla on it, then I dont just expect it to look good, but I expect to be dazzld. now the current graphics, well it sucks, however even with a cruddy engine the pure variety of landscape still leave parts of it looking beutiful, which is an amazing feat considering how cruddy the engine is.
Many parts are spoiled however, by hugely jagged lines due to 0 anti-alasing and poor original textures, I'm hoping they pay more to lip service to the updating, im hoping for a new graphics engine, low to hi res modes, low - ultra high texture details, all the modern shading technologies and hopefully HDR to, basically im hoping everything graphics wise is changed, and im looking forward to the physics update, i hope they add support for the PhysiX hardware acceleration card, some bugs i've noticed involve well basically poor physics by design, so hopefully this will change that, and the new chat systems are very much needed.
Hopefully the true potential beauty of Entropia can be brought ought, which will encourage more players hence more money hence mindark gets more people with which to keep ahead of bugs, rather then playing catch up constantly.
Hopefully the Entropia Universe name is simply an enabler afterall Project Entropia would be the wrong name for a game with more then one planet and space zones, and the new site is certainly an improvement over the old one, and the nice graphics with the space ship promise good things to come, I hope they deliver.
