There were no one complaining when we had our own thread/announcement about it here , but as soon as it's MindArk themselfes announcing it you start attacking immediatly, please stop that, thanks.
its seems in the other thread people are talking about the LA's being sold...

In this thread it seems to be people talking about the PR Artical released

Just my opinion ATM tho, wich can change with my mood

Read what people in your forum are complaining about, then read the thread you mentioned and compare that to the PR from MindArk - and you will know why people get upset and post what they post.

Ummmm...no.

"In 2005, the Entropia Universe turnover (amount of virtual Project Entropia Dollars converted back into real world currency) was estimated at $165,000,000 US dollars."

That seems pretty straightforward. I am a bit dubious of the amount. They do not say anything either way, but the implication is that PLAYERS have withdrawn enough peds to convert into $165M USD. If $165M was converted back inot cash by the thousands of active players(not hundreds of thousands of accounts opened in a free game), we'd all be freakin' rich!

I was just musing about other ways this amount could have come to be...like MA extracting PEDS in the repair terminals and using that "income" to pay their bills.

Players cash out, players use their ATM's, but $165M is a bold claim...i need to see a balance sheet.

In this context, they say "the amount of virtual Project Entropia Dollars converted back into real world currency.", so this doesn't include deposits. If
1.65 BILLION PEDS have been converted back to real money, I am simply curious where it is.

A big chunck of this may be going back to MA to cover their costs...but saying:

"In 2005, the Entropia Universe turnover (amount of virtual Project Entropia Dollars converted back into real world currency) was estimated at $165,000,000 US dollars: $500,000 of that going to 1267 players and the rest to the parent company, MindArk."

...just isn't as sexy as just throwing out the $165M figure...so palpable...alluring...so easy...must...touch...the rainbow...

It's all in the presentation...it's what you say and what you do NOT say that tells the story. There are foods here in America that are advertized as "fat free". Yes...free of fat, but loaded with sugar, which the body will convert to fat for you!

If there is still some "context" that I am missing, perhaps you might care to expand upon where you think I am confused?

<---Me?

PS MB, I'm not bashing MA....they are the ones who put this Elephant in the room, I am simply choosing not to ignore it.

Of course, this is how PR is working. You say something in a way that people implicate another meaning - some kind of legal tricking.

What they say and what the fact is: it would be $165M if we would convert it.
What people are thinking is: the PEDs had been converted into $.

This clever, but not fair PR. But PR wasnt fair anytime.

transport would take some day's so mindark helps me very fast they prolly shipped mine the same day i bought it.
they can pay much for fast shipment tho........ atleast with these numbers on the beackground.

well as i still feel numble...... i hope mindark will implement something for less rich players.
so they can start up something that can give them a payment aswell (i'm such one)

LA = income but you need to be rich to buy it.
hanger = income for players that are rich but not as rich as LA owner's
beauty = income less investment ...... but really gay like for most men more for girls (no i don't hate gay's i have friend that is so and when seen it even he called it gay )
hunting, mining, crafting = no income and often a loss

i had a dream to be be transporter of goods and items in here lol think that will never happen

Guys... dont forget that they are talking about the entire year of 2005. There are lots of people who withdraw $5K USD, $10K $USD, $20K USD. Also just think about the HUGE amount of people that withdraw $100 to $1000 USD. There are TONS of people who put in a few hundred USD, get bored, and withdraw.

Just think about all of the people who withdrew after they lost the CND auction. Do you think that all of them kept their peds in-game?

Just think about what happens every time an Uber item changes hands.

PE isnt a secret little game in Sweden anymore

EDIT: errr... yea, after some thought that number does seem high. Perhaps this is another misquote by the press? I dunno

No, turnover is just economic activity within EU itself. If you look at the financial accounts for 2005 then it tells how much was withdrawn, which was 3,122,038 SEK.

Hm, okay. Then 10.000 players have withdrawn 165.000 PED - each of them?!

One major thing to remember is that turnover is not the same as income.

Example:

Bob the Noob arrives in Entropia Universe and deposits $10 USD. He buys pixie armor, an Opalo, and spends the balance on ammo. So far, his turnover is 96.5 PEDs. Now, say he goes hunting and hits it big. He kills a mob and gets a 500 PED global. After he's spent all of that, his turnover is 596.5 PEDs, but the income is whatever the decay on the Opalo and armor were.

(Sorry to anyone who's avatar name is Bob...its the first thing I could think of. )

Turnover is simply the value of all of the economic interactions inside the system. It is the value of all deposits, trades, globals, auctions, etc. It shows how much "action" there was in the virtual economy. For 2005, there being $165,000,000 worth of turnover? I can believe it. NEVERDIE fronted $100,000, several others deposited money for the asteroid, people deposited, traded, auctioned, and continued to develop their avatars.
