Yes i agree..The money was most likely ready for something. But you dont know if he didnot plan to bid on Emerald Lake Mall instead of PA.Or if he wanted to buy the two small malls. Mistakes happen.

Exactly....but there is a risk that he would lose the auction from a bug/lag during a bid battle. So this way he prevents that risk.

It will be interesting to see how the malls pan out.

A part of me thinks that there is maybe some long term issues with the malls that may eventually require MA intervention to protect the players investment.

Basically unless you intend to recoup your investment by selling the shops for 20K Peds or more, you will be relying on the tax income from items selling.

You effectively are giving control of your income to other players. Some of these players will run shops for a while and then move on. When that happens they either sell the deed, or in many cases dump it in cold storage in the hope that it goes up in price at a later date. When that happens Mall Owner loses tax income because the shop shuts down when you don't pay the rental cost to MA.

A more evil player, could also buy up shops in mall and deliberately not use them. Effectively denying the Mall Owner income by starving their tax revenue.

does anyone remember the big stink about resellers a few months back when sweat started selling below 1per?
folk started saying then that the way to advance the ecomomy of the game was to allow easier access to the stores and give the power of the sale back to the everyday player.
the malls seem to be MAs answer to that. now there is easy access to stores for anyone, it may take some time but im hoping we see a trend toward player owned stores selling items for rich and poor and stimulating the ecomomy.
now we neeed someone to open a "consignment" store so some of us can open our storages, and get rid of the junk hiding in there lol
just my btu i see great things in the future for these malls and i think so did the folk who spent their kids college money buying them." long live the republic of EU!"

In game and this forum, we live in an isolated village with little or no contact with the rest of the virtual world. So, we make our own suppositions as to the value of things in our village. But we could be way off, up or down. Here comes someone from elsewhere who stayed in the bidding next to last, probably driving up the price a little higher than we expected to be, but not so much.
(From the other discussion on this)

The An She team is basically the ultimate market manipulator/reseller. While it is nice to see EU get recognized by the outside, i'm not sure it's a good thing that such an entity sees investment value in EU. All that says to me is, "We see sufficient loopholes in this universe to manipulate the market profitably."

Just some food for thought.

You're right though, I have no way to know if what I guessed is true, so I withdraw my comment. I suggest you withdraw yours too. Thank you kindly, and I am sorry for my guess, it was pure speculation.

Maybe Eps had 'X' money he was willing to spend and just bid 'X' to push off any competition and be done with it. Why does there need to be a deeper conspiracy. Some people spend $70k on a nice bottle of wine. I think the problem here is that people are putting the money in perspective of what it means to them, but you have no idea what it means to Eps. Maybe he is Bill Gates.. Maybe he shits $100 bills. Who cares? He wanted a mall and he got one. Gratz Eps!

When I first saw Eps bid jump about 30k USD I was really surprised and thought it was a mistake. Why would he do that? But...

the more I think about it the more it seems that it was simply a wise bid. At that stage in the bidding it seemed high. But by the end of the bidding after the dust settled, it seems, to me, that it was a very wise bid. I think time will show, just like TI and CND that the PA mall with it's built-in market will be the most valuable stand-alone mall, BY FAR.

Gratz to Eps

Careless Bears

Yep, who cares who invests as long as the loot pool is topped up. Who cares about the motivation of this years major investors.
The only time you will care is when it impacts the loot average to a degree even seasoned vets with the best equipment (Imp/Mod) decide to call it a day - Im just thankful there isn't a spate of high end equipment on auction (which is slow to move at current/recent market value I may add, if it was there) cos that would just fuel things further.
Implications of increasing a business risk would be that increased return would have to be negotiated - Where's that coming from?

In the real world, it's called Wall Street and venture capital. High risks/high rewards that some people are willing/calculating the risks on. When they loose, we usually hear "they deserved it". When they win, we usually hear "opportunistic" ... or worse.

For the life of me, I cannot figure out why some people have so much anger toward high risk investors and see all sorts of evil manipulation. But see nothing wrong with commodities and options markets in the real world. Many real world markets are controlled and manipulated, and not always for the worse. The oldest example still in effect today is the diamond market, the biggest is the oil market controlled by a cartel of producing countries. Others includes odd things like ... trading cards!

I don't hear these people whine when they make a nice profit on their loot
