Mall Sales Net MindArk $180,000

The sale of three malls through Entropia Universe's auction system was completed this Friday night at around 22:30 MA time. A total of 1,796,678 PED was spent on the malls, meaning a $180,000 bounty for MindArk. This will no doubt reach the world-press who have been known to express disbelief at the amount of money being spent "on property that doesn't exist." Additional publicity will arise from the participation in the bidding wars by well-known MMORPG land and property trader Anshe Chung.

As predicted, the Emerald Lakes mall (which came with a land area for hunting and mining) sold for the highest amount, a cool 746,007 PED. It went to the avatar Onkel RobRoy Bob after a fierce bidding war with An She Anshe Chung. According to well-known Warants uber Skalman, RobRoy is a friend of his who has been an occasional player for some years and fancied investing.

Also involved early on in the bidding was Meu Oije Saltandpepper who amused onlookers by globalling on an Argonaut shortly after leaving the bidding.

NEVERDIE's space station purchase slightly over a year ago remains Entropia Universe's record sale at 1,000,000 PED and is looking remarkably good value in comparison to Emerald Lakes, suggesting significant growth in the value of land and property in EU over the past year. The fact that both outside and inside investors have the confidence to put such large amounts of money into property in EU can only be a good thing for Entropians and the public profile of EU.

Onkel RobRoy Bob also won the mall located at the popular trading spot Twin Peaks. It fetched the lowest amount of the three malls at 350,004 PED. RobRoy's main goal was the Emerald Lakes mall, however, and to ensure he had enough funds he sold the Twin Peaks mall for a profit to significant Entropia investor Flerin neomaven Flerinson shortly after the bidding finished.

The Port Atlantis mall was won by the more well-known EU avatar, Epsilon Eps Vaz. The BAHQ society member caused some surprise when he significantly outbid his own leading bid to win the mall uncontested for 700,667 PED. Port Atlantis, however, is the main spawning point for new EU members and will no doubt attract a good deal of trade. Eps has already posted on EF attesting to the fact his bid was intentional and announcing his belief in the future of EU:

I believe the Port Atlantis Mall is a great investment for the future. Entropia Universe is growing all the time and Port Atlantis is a meeting place for new players. My aim is to make starting out in Entropia as easy and as exciting as possible, by providing reasonable prices and an easy and enjoyable shopping experience for new players to buy their first gear. Hopefully this will keep more new players in this great Universe.

But in all fairness, Twin went for alot less then many people were expecting. I know why Emerald went for 700k But i would thaught Twin and PA would go for considerably less considering its just the mall. I was very suprised when EPS put in that 700k bid.

Been posting on 2 threads which have now been closed cos apparently this is where my query should be (thanks 711). I didn't originate the other posts but share the same curiosity as those that did. - Namely, 'Why would someone massively overbid themselves on a public auction where a snipe rule is in effect?' (as per Epsilon's PA Mall bids)

The only reasons I can think of are nefarious, but that may be because of the type of person I am (cynic). Can someone pls offer a rationale that does not fuel negative speculation?

I'm missing a point somewhere and Im sure it will all fall into place with a little input.

To put som true , rob roy is skalman friend but not "good warants friend".
Noone of us beside skalman seems to know him.I do remind to see his name here and there but nothing more.He is not my friend , but , maybe he will become , i have nothing against him.I just dont like people say me who is my friend.

That was rather defensive of you Etopia. But whoever they are, they spent there own money to buy the malls, And isnt that the point of it? It dosent realy matter who they are, Just accept the fact that they have more money then sense

Why would someone pay more if they can pay less? especially in Entropia Universe.

He made a mistake and was too shameful to admit it ...
Or he had the strong intuition that he is going to make big money with that mall and wanted to impress any auction competitor...
Or MindArk needed him to make the numbers get higher and asked him to bid high ,for the press buzz.
Or he doesnot give a **** about money,he is a pimp and he wants to show us his money like that , he got the green and he got the powa ...


Honestly i dont care much about these sales.I know it has costed time & money to MindArk for designing and building the malls, and they have their investment back now ...but they will still make money from the monthly fees ,so ...the winner is ... MindArk
