RobRoy -Leaping into the Spotlight

Onkel RobRoy Bob. Only a day ago, the community had little or no idea of his existence. Now everyone is asking the same question. "Who is he?"

The 37 year old Swede has been until recently quite unknown. "I am not a fame seeking man" he promptly points out, "I'm not so loud or outgoing, really. I'm just looking for a good deal."

Yet, he seems welcoming and friendly as I meet him at the top of his very own mall, outside his new penthouse apartment door. Dressed in a business suit, he seemed to underline the statement of making a good deal, and the Omegatron Chasers on his feet seem to give a hint about his profession as a hunter in Entropia. RobRoy is not, despite some rumors that have been circulating, a newly created avatar. His first steps on Calypso were taken in December 2003 after visiting a LAN which his workmate Zaphod and the renowned Warants general Skalman attended. They introduced him to the virtual universe Entropia, and since then he has been a steady visitor.

However, crawling from under a rock and into the spotlight can be troublesome. "There have been alot of rumors about me being a second avatar of someone else, but I'm not. I have been around for three years and I'll be around for at least three years more. I cannot live without EU, it's a part of me now, like my rent-bills!" he says and laughs. -"Are you not afraid of conspiracy theories then?" I ask. "Always. Where there is money there will also be bad people."

"I have seen many good deals pass through EU, so now I thought it was finally my turn." Yesterday RobRoy won the auctions of the newly built Emerald Lakes and Twin Peak malls. The Emerald Lakes Mall also includes a beautiful land area with green, untouched fields and clear blue skies reminiscent of a painting. "I would like to offer a complete place for people to stay, a place that can service all their needs." RobRoy has given his idealistic plans some thought. "I will listen to what people want to hunt and make a balance out of it." For a guy who hasn't participated much in the community earlier, he sure seems eager to please.

And for the opportunity to do so, the IRL blue-collar man paid 746,000 Project Entropia Dollars. How could he afford it? Not just buying the Emerald Lakes mall, but also the one at Twin Peaks at a cost of 350,000 PEDs, meaning he had over 1 million PEDs balance, enough to buy Club NeverDie a year ago.

"The money I got from my bank, with help from my parents for some bank-security" he tells me, however pointing out that he does not come from a rich family. He himself works at Volvo Cars as a quality engineer at the development plant located at, as he puts it, "the best coast" - and the city of Gothenburg.

"My goal was to get Emerald Lakes, so getting the Twin Peaks mall was just a bonus. I honestly thought that Anshe Chung would put up a much harder fight." Yet after winning the auction of the Twin Peaks mall, he sold it on Flerin neomaven Flerinson, and thus now owns just the one mall, not two.

"Ingame the future is cooperation." I have just asked him about his vision of the future Entropia. "And that will bring much understanding between people around the globe. Perhaps even peace. We have only seen a small part of EU`s power. I have seen it grow since I started, but these days everything happens much faster."

-"But, what if the plan fails?" the words just fall out of my mouth. I do not wish to discourage him. Yet he seems steady as a rock.

"Fails?" he answers like it would be absurd that such a thing would happen. -"The future is what you make of it. No one will do anything for you, you must do it youself or die trying! Entropia Universe is the land of the free and the brave" he finishes, and winks.

Good interview, i was curious to see who this investor was. I too thought him to be a 2nd avatar.

But, good to see this cleared up. It is kinda fun to talk conspiracy though...

Im just glad Emerald Lakes didn't end up either on a reseller's hands or people from other games.
