This time i might join as well.

Next trip is?
Im trying to make it at least once a year, last time was May 2006, so it will be at least another 6 months before I even start planning another one, for a new cycle of players to join as well and to give pkers a chance to skill more

Since it takes so much effort to create and expensive to fund ( MindEssence for Mindtropians), I rather keep it to no more than twice a year.

Gives you a reason to stick around for awhile if you want to see total chaos at the Rig

Hope that answers your question

And you forgot the biggest part: To give MA some time to skill their net optimization skills

Thank you so much to all the mindtropians who opened wormhole after wormhole. Aside from the massive lag, I had a blast. I got to see the rig for the first time, and display my mad jumping-around-trying-not-to-get-shot skills. At least I made someone waste a few peds in ammo before they got me. I'd have to say the highlight was when the guide started asking the pkers "is this any way to greet the next generation of playes?".

I think the MAIN issue here is on MAs side. Well to some extent it might be a persons computer but If u well meet the recommended specs it shouldnt be a problem right? ( Or they should change the recommendations) I did many tests on diffrenent computers to see if it was client or server side issues. At the event I ran on a very maxed out computer with a 6800GT512MB ram gfx so this should definetly not be the problem. However if I check my ping or package loss at the time it was horrible. I have a 24mbit connection two ways (up/downstreams) so this wouldnt be any bottleneck either. But if the server cant handle the packages going out or optimize the traffic it doesnt matter whats reciving it...shit in - shit out.

Well i think my stats speaks for it selves and still get majorhangs on events!

got 100Mbit/100Mbit and live around 300km from Gothenburg.
x2 4600,8800GTX, 2GB, raptor hdd

and as Mice said about packetloss...horrible during events and i got like 30ms on a "average day". Question is WHY does not MA do anything about it???? Is it a lack of bandwith or clusters or both?? I am working for an ISP that got up to 10Gbit on the backbone so if it is a lack of BW..and we got alot of space. You cannot blame everything on the players computer or his/hers internet connection. It is about time to solve this....omg LG would be like..lol.

I didnt mean to blame the users for anything. There are just many things that usually cause performance problems. The speed (2mbit or 100mbit) of your DSL/Cable doesn't automatically mean you have a better ping/less delay. It's about the peerings of the internet providers. If they have peerings to all big ISP's/CIX's in all over europe there will probably be less delay/packet loss due to optimized routing. If you play EU with a Savage S3 64MB Video Card on your Notebook I can tell you that you will have bigger delay and lower FPS in Twins or at big events than a guy with the latest video card and a fast CPU plus a smooth inet line with 4up/4down mbit.

EU is a performance monster when it comes to wasting RAM/CPU. So at the end we have the opportunity one company that might think about rewriting their code or thousands of players that have to upgrade video cards/cpu's, RAM etc. if they want to participate at big events without getting rubberbanded 24/7.

But I go off topic...let's see what LG brings.

A guess on the lag

I wonder sometimes if the PE servers are laid out on a grid of machines that corresonds to geography. Anyone whose run through the back woods of Arameth and hit the boundaries of the world (i.e. no server available for this area) would probably come to the same conclusion.

The thing about that which would suck is that when you have a large party like this form, and everyone is one area, we've essentially ganged up on one server, and that may have made the server unresponsive.

MA probably needs to look into aproaches where the server's geographic regions can be adjusted as these things happen. There's all sorts of solutions for that, like server virtualization.

And it does seem worse these days than ever before to my memory (which goes back 3-4 years.) Back then lag was very rare. These days, my avatar inevitably ends up rubber banding in most situations.
