EU Updated to VU8.11 Entropia Universe was updated to VU8.11 on Tuesday, March 20th. The new VU also includes the content from the postponed VU8.10 and contains a lot of new content for everyone. Highlights include a new PVP island in south Amethera complete with new mobs and resources, and the addition of detailed historical auction data for all items. There are many other interesting additions as well, including new limited faps. The new market value data for items was previewed by MA last week here. It provides detailed data and graphs tracking how the market value of a given item has varied over time. Historical sale quantities are also detailed. It tracks all auction sales including buyouts and will become a valuable tool to all avatars, not to mention speculative investors. ![]() Data tracking historical Mind Essence Prices More talked about, of course, is the addition of Akmuul Island, a brand new piece of land located to the east of Myrene Island in south Amethera. The land comes with new resources and new mobs, as well as new settlements and what will soon become two new Land Areas for sale. The new mobs are not for the unprepared, however, as they are located inside a new lootable PvP area! PvP combat itself is said to have been enhanced in order to make better use of an avatar's accuracy. ![]() Map description of Akmuul Island and a new settlement The Akmuul Island teleport is located outside the east edge of the PvP area at coordinates (11000, 3000) and is easily accessible with a few TP hops from either Myrene Island or Memorial Island. For the non-PvP inclined, there's plenty of land to explore outside the new contaminated zone, including some spectacular scenery. Taking the route from Myrene Island, I first encountered the new settlement Willunsong North at the north-most edge of the PvP area. ![]() A lighthouse at Willunsong North From there the new teleport is easily found by following the PvP area round to the east. ![]() View from a mountain top near Akmuul Island teleport There's plenty of 'safe' land to explore to the east of the teleport. It probably makes for nice mining land at the moment - mob population is relatively low although it's worth carrying a few weapons to deal with the Exarosaurs, Cornundacaudas and Molisks that you'll encounter! There's also two fertilizer stations which form the beginnings of some new land areas that will no doubt be on sale soon! ![]() A lakeside view east of Akmuul Island teleport After a little exploring I couldn't resist taking a peek at the new mobs in the PvP zone. I first encountered the rather large mutant Muluk-Hir which are not to be scoffed at - at my level 20 Evader they don't miss much! Mulaak'f are reputedly even deadlier whilst the Mulmun are somewhat easier. Eventually my battle with a Muluk-Hir Warlord sent me back to the revive terminal upon which, in a moment of madness, I decided to blind teleport into a different part of the PvP zone. I briefly encountered a new flying bot called an Attacker (reportedly not too tough) before taking a rather heavy hit from a rapidly approaching green dot. Ah well, back to the revival terminal for me then but at least I can say the first person to ever loot me in EU is, well, famous! ![]() Jimmy kills Jimmy! There are plenty of other alterations and additions to discover as well. Various graphical improvements have been made and there's already been quite a few new items spotted. There are new limited FAPs to find, as well as a new TT FAP (once maxed-out, slightly more economical than the FAP-5 for those who can't hit a perfect 10.0 every time on the FAP-5). The Hedok SK-50 is particularly interesting, giving a maximum heal of 69 and requiring a Paramedic profession level above 20 to use well, suggesting the possibility of further new (L) FAPs bridging the gap between the old FAPs and the Imp/Mod FAPs. Skilling up medical related skills in order to use these new FAPs will add more importance for the Paramedic profession too! And all this just touches the surface - there's no doubt plenty more to discover! New finds are continually being documented with images in various forum threads such as this one (nice post on page 10 by Micko with stats on the new mobs) or the official Bertha Bot thread. The official MindArk announcement of the new VU is located here. |

I did a little exploring of my own last night and discovered Willunsong West as well. What a unique little settlement.
Quaint waterside buildings that looked a little worn down and abandoned, and one with a plank bridge complete with torches at either end ... ![]() There seemed to be a vulcano-like formation with what appeared to be a beacon tower with a platform or deck at the top. As I got closer, I found a big circle entrance with what looked like tunnels, so I set off to find out what it was all about. As I walked through the circle entrance, it was indeed a tunnel of sorts ... ![]() I followed the tunnel around corners until I was surprised to find a televator ... ![]() Naturally, curiosity was in full force and I wanted to know where this televator was going to take me ... not knowing how many levels there were, I started with 1. As I rendered from the televator, I realized that there weren't any other levels, and that I was taken to the look-out deck of this lighthouse. What a view indeed. ![]() As I walked a little further around the deck, I was able to look down and see the buildings and planked bridge with torches I had just visted prior to discovering the tunnel and televator ... be careful though, the railing is missing or broken in a couple of places on the deck ... ![]() There's lots to explore with the new VU, and JSA did some additional exploring last night, but that's another story. Great job on the article as always JB, thanks for your quick response to get it written and posted. EDIT: I forgot to add the coords for this location. If you go to 6127 - 2650, it should take you close to where I'm standing in the first pic above. Then if you go a little ways left beyond the trees, you will see the big opening to the tunnels. Follow the tunnel around until you see the televator, then just go to "1" and you'll be on the look-out deck. It's helpful if you begin from Myrene Island as a TP'ing starting point ... or running point if you don't TP.*** Last edited by MindStar9; 03-22-2007 at 01:35. |

Another great post Jimmy B, I really like this update.
My one complaint, rounding of stacks. 1645 ammo for instance shows 2k in your inventory unless you hold your mouse over it. Other than that, this is one of my favorite VUs I tried to get on the lighttower at Willunsong North for sometime, failed though. I was on the hill but I couldn't get on/in the building itself. Others had already been there of course, oils and residues were scattered about I explored the area but I didn't see any tunnels or televators. I hope I missed one.Nice addition MS9, I will be heading out to find West tonight. |
