Scamming Methods Exposed

I am a newbie and luckily I had found 1k Common Dung. I thought it was worth atleast 5-10 PED in market and started selling it. Some guy came and said that he wanted to trade it for a some Projectiles. He said that I feed this projectiles to the animal and sweat as usual and insted of sweat I get a good loot. I thought this fellow was trying to fool me, but there was some feeling in me which I couldn't resist because I wanted to see what that projectiles were really. After trading it I found that I had been scammed. 1k Dung for a mere 2 projectiles worth almost nothing. I have learnt a lot in few days. I must also add that i am playing EU just from the past one week.

Not PED, but PEC .. dung is almost worthless

There's been an increase of new avatars who ask to see your equipment lately.
It may be flattering and nice to show off stuff for a seemingly impressed noob, but this very wall might be a deliberate mapping on potential victims.

Simultaneously there has been an increase of avatars who in trade situations been asking for e-mail and even a picture of the player (due to offered delayed payment). This may very well be a hacking or hijacking attempt.

There's a possibility these two operations are connected, but it's still unconfirmed.

Don't ever reveal real life information or e-mail to strangers, never open mails from people you don't know.

I'd go one further, and suggest making a web-based e-mail account purely for ingame stuff, something like <avatarname>@hotmail.com.
Then you can have contact with people away from the game or EF with a greater degree of security.

Edit: I'm also very suspicious of announcements in local chat like "16 year old Swedish blonde looking for mentor @ TP"

The problem is still to open mail from people you only know from the game, regardless what accunt you use.

In another thread somebody mentioned a team scam.

Scenario:
You are out hunting, have an almost dead mob, get a team invite and then have to share your loot with that person if you accepted (accidentally or not).

This needs to be taken to MA support, if you can accidentally join a team because you are busy shooting a mob, when someone invites you.

Hmm, I think I'll go and find someone who's not busy and test this

Edit: tested, with these results:
1. No matter what the mob health, joining a team automatically transfers the 'loot rights' to the team.
2. Mouseclicking to fire your weapon doesn't accept a team invite, but typing can do.

1K dung is worth around 1 ped, so it would be closer to ped than pec. If he has been given 2 explosive projectiles (worth 2 pec) he has indeed been scammed...but only for around 98 pec, so it's a cheap lesson.

im not sure if this has been reported on the forum before but there is atleast one person walking around asking people about goldcards (where to get them, are they any good, do you use it).
if you tell this avatar that you dont have a gc "she" becames very chatty. obviously "she" is very quick to offer a slideshow of herself daincing (she is a stripper that owns a club ).

after playing around with "her" for a while i got the slideshow.exe file, recorded all the chats, took screenshots and got "her" ip address before sending all the info to support.
"she" insisted on using yahoo, since this appears to be one of the few webmails that wont reject the file she is sending.

so if anyone ask you if you use a goldcard, always say yes no matter what. and dont trust stippers with a slideshow fetish on yahoo mail!

PS: she claimed to be from spain (she did indeed speak spanish) but the ip address was from romania (romtelecom).
