FYI: Xfire vs Fraps

Okay, I am a long time Fraps user but know many ingame and full screen recorders, some of them are good, some of them are not too good.
The time had come to make a small test with the Xfire, since it has a video recording ability and hopefully the first wave bugs were already fixed.
First impressions.
You will need a stronger comp then the one what you used for Fraps. The uncompressed file size is pretty huge and it really slows down your comp while recording. Repeating, according to Fraps.
There are good points too. After you are done with the recording you can upload it to your Xfire profile, the Xfire client compressing it to MP4 format so the final filesize is pretty good.
While recording you can get a small menu, also seemed nice.

Overall, I would stick with Fraps because the performance is way better while recording and no need of extra compressing time.
I saw a few other EU videos on Xfire, did they used Xfire for the recording too or just uploaded there, but used something else for the recording?

I've never used Fraps (tried to get it work once and it was all manner of quirky)

So I tried ZD Soft game recorder. It seems to work well. i've used it many times in EU as well as other games and never had a problem.

I'll give Xfire a try to see how it stacks up.

its a shame fraps and xfire have a "one or the other not both" relationship. but top notch pics and vids mean more to me then timing my game time, so fraps it is.

XFire does recording but needs a better machine... How much better? And where does one find it?

I think a dual core, at least 1 gig of ram, a fast harddrive and a medium level videocard is enough.

X-fire...spyware for the beginner. Fraps is ok if you video stuff. I love my Ass tho
