How to Embed YouTube Videos into a post

Members now have the ability to embed their YouTube videos into their threads using a custom BB code.

Example 1: Video - No Title

[ youtube]http://youtube.com/watch?v=EALx4Rpo5cY[/youtube ]

Shows this:

YouTube Video

Example 2: Video - With Title

[ youtube="http://youtube.com/watch?v=EALx4Rpo5cY"]Anna[/youtube ]

shows this:

"Anna" via YouTube

Make sure to remove the spaces between [ youtube and youtube ] (I had to insert the spaces in order to show the code example, otherwise it would display the video again).

Optionally you can simply past the URL of the YouTube page where your video is located, highlight it, then click the "Wrap YouTube tags around selected text" button in the meassage editor:

I agree, but it makes it a bit more difficult to add a custom title if one wants.

Also, many members are quite familiar with the use of BB codes, and simply type them, rather than clicking the buttons in the editor.

true. i also know a few, and might get to use them after a while.

still you also timed it quite good, with the MA competition and all that.

edit: would it be possible to also add other video resources to this? like googlevideo and stuff?

No plans to add other video sources. This was only added to accomodate the video competition submissions on YouTube. EF members should not be embedding videos on other parts of the forum, for the most part.

I played the first one, no problems, but when I clicked pause on the first and then clicked play on the second, the second doesn't load. Is that normal or just me?

edit:
If I refresh the page, the progress bar on the first disappears and the second one can be loaded. I guess the pause button doesn't allow loading of multi-videos.

Alas you have been taken in by him.... you cant fight it Mr. Proper. I horified my mates today by putting them on my ipod (with the english subtitles) and showed everyone the sheer lunacy of Europe.....
