Would you participate in a mining event?

Well I managed to pull my head out of my …… and figured out how to set up a poll. Lol
So let’s see if this gets a better response than an open discussion. It’s a simple question. Would you participate in a mining event? Please check all that apply.

Yes I know, but most that I have seen are on a specific land area sponcered by the land owner. I have never seen an independant no bounderies just for the sake of promoting mining in itself type of event. That's not to say that they haven't happened, just that they are no where near as frequent as hunting competitions. And even the vast majority of hunting competitions are sponcered by land owners in an effort to bring more people to thier LA. Nothing at all wrong with that by the way! I support them fully and attend them myself once in a while.

I would... if dropping a bomb or probe raises undead atrox to shoot, kill, and loot. Now that would be a mining event.

LOL Now there's a cool idea! They could pop up once in a while like robot ships do. Being undead they would be harder to kill than a normal MOB, but have some special loot. That however is not within my power to create.

On the serious side... Thanks for the reply Scorpion. I know that mining isn't everybodies cup of tea. But that is the point of the poll, to find out if there are enough people who do want a competition of this sort to make it worth while.

I mine and enjoy it, almost have my OF-105 maxed. I just don't see how an all mining event would be very entertaining.

I could probably be swayed otherwise but nothing comes to mind that makes it sound any fun.

Come on people lets get some more opinons here, my curiosity is piqued now.

About the Team setups:

Since some competition between country's could be added as extra effect, its not required, it was more like this:

Say there are 10 Country's participating.
Holland / America / England / Sweden and so on...

All teams meet up @ Camp Phoenix (or any other place).
The organization of the Event (or judges) write down the names of each Country's team members. (Ill explain why later.)

All Country's go minging anywhere they like, and say a Member of Team Holland get a 125 PED Gazzurdit, you can add 125 Points to Team Holland.
(As example)

Now why the teams?
This gets more intresting to a wider public, since miners just want to mine, you could add some hunters to each team. When the Hunters (protectors of the Miners as you could see them) get a global that can also be added to the Countys score (or secundairy score) and later on the Hunters in the Event could also get some nice prizes. Off course not as big as the Miners, but still nice weaponry, or a Full TT Rascal would be a nice price, wouldn't it?

This way you smack 2 flys in 1 stroke.

1: Miners can go wander of into Calypso knowing they have some protection in their team.
2: Hunters will go with the miners to score a Global and get some extra credits.

This is just imaginary in my head, but I would like to see how you think of this setup

It won't work.. everyone would just go to cnd with finders equiped with the best amps money could buy, and would global a lot, and even hof. Well, no need really for big ass amps in cnd, small asses will do .
I'm not saying it wouldn't be feasible on calypso, but there you would need THE uber amps.

Yes, finds do seem to be quite a bit better on CND. My personal best was found down on the planet (a 1500 PED Blau). With the thought in mind that mining at CND might give an unfair advantage would more people be interested if the competition was limited to on planet mining?
