As everybody by now is aware I am trying to put together an interesting mining competition. (View the details and register for the event here) My aim is to bring together many different factions of the Entropian Universe so as to benefit as much of the community as possible. I personally have nothing to gain by all of this unless I happen to get really lucky and find that tower out there that has my name on it during the competition. lol Several other areas within the community can benefit from this though. There is the obvious, land owner and some crafters stand to gain a nice chunk of change. More importantly though, I think the greater community will benefit in some less noticeable ways. The participants of course will gain all those extra PEDS from all of the ores and enmatters they will sell, the crafters will benefit from more materials being available, which lastly with any luck will reduce their costs a little so they can pass those savings on to the general community in lower prices on the items they craft. Then it is also possible that if this continues to grow into a semi annual or even quarterly event that it will catch the attention of MA enticing them to make even more improvements for us all.
To make this a true success however I need your help. I believe that more people will participate if there is no entry fee to be paid. On top of that there needs to be a decent reward. I unfortunately don’t have the resources available to offer a really nice prize package without needing to charge an entry fee. That’s where you come in. I am asking for donations to the prize pool. No donation is to large or too small, so if you would like to help out post your pledge in this thread, or via PM to me (Amante). All donations will be collected prior to the start of the event and placed on display in my apartment up on CND. (Beta complex 9H West)
If for any reason the event is canceled all donations will promptly be returned to the donator.

Note to MA: If I fail to disperse ALL prize donations to the winners of the event, or to return ALL donations back to the donators if the event is canceled for some unforeseen reason I request that you lock my account and divide all of my belongings amongst said donators.
(That’s not going to happen, but I want to show that this legitimate and not an attempted scam!)

Here are some statistics from the “Trial run” Calypsos’ Master Miner April 2007...

We had 27 players sign up and participate in the first event.
6 globals were posted from Eudoria for a total of 835 PEDS
27 globals were posted from Amethera for a total of 2813 PEDS
44 globals were posted from CND for a total of 3737 PEDS

A grand total off 77 globals were posted with a grand total of 7385 PEDS

This does not take into account the unknown amount of non-global finds people had out there, and who knows how many amps we all burned up in the quest for entries. lol So dig deep people! Let’s make this tournament even better!
