EVENT: Universe Wide Hunting Competetion

Greetings all!!

This is my first attempt at an event so please go easy on the criticism.

This is a simple hunting contest. The way to score points is to get globals and you claim your points by posting screenshots. This will last for 10 weeks. Each week, a new set of mobs is selected for death. There are 3 categories of mobs: LOW, MEDIUM, and HARD. There are 3 mobs from each category for a total of 9 possible mobs. Certain mobs are sponsored, so kills for these would need to happen in the sponsored LA. The LA owners are contributing to the prize pool, so I don't think this is too much to ask. Kills in these categories will award points like this:

LOW ---- 1 point
MEDIUM - 3 points
HARD ---- 5 points

If you get a global on a mob from each category, you get 10 points bonus.
If you get a global on all 9 mobs, you get a bonus of 50 points.

Scores are cumulative and will be updated as the weeks progress. At the end of the 10th week, the highest score will be declared the winner. As you can see, dedication and determination will pay off.

The week starts at 0000 Monday MA Time and ends 2359 Saturday MA Time (I would like just one day to add up scores...). All screenshots must include:
Your global in the chat area
Time stamp (Press "U")
No exceptions please... just do the right thing. Screenshots must be posted within 24 hours of the end of the week of the hunt. For example, to be eligible for points in week 8, screenshots must be posted by 2359 on 13 Jul (MA Time - which can be seen at the bottom of the forum pages). While I do understand bad internet connections and acts of nature, this must be the rule. Hunt early and often to ensure your points are counted!

Each participant must "ante up". In poker, each player antes a chip to be a part of the next hand. Same here... 10 PED is the ante for each week long hunt. All money goes into the pot for the grand prize. If you do not think you can play enough to be competitive in a certain week, simply do not ante and skip that week. Once you pay me 10 PED, there are no refunds so please make sure you can participate before you pay. The more people that join, the larger the pot will become. I am purposely avoiding the ingame event system to keep costs to ZERO. That way, all money anted into the pot goes to the winner.

NOTE TO LAND OWNERS: I will NOT be using "unique" mobs in the lists. All mobs on my list at this time are naturally occuring on the planet. If you would like to sponsor this contest, let me know via PM. Tell me which LA you want to use and which mob you want listed and it will be added. Sponsored mobs will require the kill in your LA, only fair since you are contributing to the prize pool. Sponsorship in this manner will attract the hunters to your LA and since they need to global to score your taxes increase. I think it is fair to ask for 100 PED that will be added to the pot for the grand prize. That 100 PED will get your mob listed for ONE WEEK. You are welcome to do it as often as you like, but I will not allow the same mob to be repeated each week. Looking forward to hearing from you. If anyone else would like to sponsor for 2nd or 3rd place, please let me know. For the record, I get NOTHING for this. Just looking to have a little fun

Teams are fine, with some added rules.. Your team must have the same name throughout the entire event and screenshots must be posted by the same person every time, without exception. You can play as a solo competitor and also host or be part of a team but your solo and team scores will be separate and cant be added to make a single larger total. You are free to change the other members of your team but you always have to be the one posting and you always have to be in the team. (This rule was borrowed from Oleg - I sincerely hope you don't mind!!)

Many different events in EU inspired this, mainly Hurrikane's WOF. Some ideas, as mentioned, were borrowed from past and present events. I encourage all players to check out the events - you meet people and might win something nice. Sometimes we all just need a reason to log on. An event could be it!

NOTE - Some mobs are not listed here, like unique mobs that only exist on avatar-owned land areas. Please see note to land owners in original post for information on how to get your mobs and land areas listed. If I listed a mob that only exists on a land area, it was in error.

This event lasts for 10 weeks, with 9 mobs each week. I will try to avoid usings mobs more than once to add a challenge and to keep it fresh. See below to see the WEEK 1 MOBLIST.

I think those rules are taken from the Battle For Power, in which case I can't take credit. They were in place before I got involved in the BfP, I think Qetesh made the rule.

Whoever it was, let's call it "sharing best practice"

Anyway, this sounds like a pretty cool competition, and different to anything I've seen before - I'll try to take part if I can!

I appreciate the comments, Oleg. I take this as "endorsement" and since you are a well known and capable event-maker, it is like "event holy water" was thrown on mine! Thanks!

I see a few views, but no one signing up... PM me or post here for a meeting time to ante up so we can get this rolling! Land Owners - still hoping for some sponsorship. Make us hunt in your LA!!

BUMPING!!! Slowly, I am getting some intersted sponsors for this competition. What I need are hunters! The more people that sign up to take part the more sponsorship will be generated. The money from the sponsors goes right into the prize pool so if hunters show interest, the sponsors will also.

A PM here or just a reply... show your fellow colonists what you are made of!

It might be a good idea to arrange a time and place when you'll be available so that anyone wanting to register can meet up with you and pay the fee.
