A hunting/mining competition

Hunters and miners of Calypso, we invite to pit your skills head-to-head against your fellow colonists to find out who are the greatest tournament players. How do you perform when the pressure is on?

With three separate divisions, players of all levels can win prizes in this contest, so please come and join us for Atrax Beach: The League!


Land Details

The competition takes place at Atrax Beach (Outback Land Area 7), just a short distance north-west from Omegaton West Habitat TP.

The land is populated by low-mid level Atrax (Young-Guardian). There are three DNAs set at maximum density. The occasional Allophyl Young also makes an appearance here.


Stage 1: Global Rush

Stage 1 runs from 26 July 2008 00:01 until 8 August 2008 23:59 (MA time).

The aim in this stage is to score as many hunting or mining globals and HoFs as possible and post the screenshots in this thread.

The following prizes will be awarded at the end of this stage:

• 500 PED to the person who posts the most globals;
• 500 PED to the person who posts the highest TT value global;
• 500 PED to the poster of one global chosen at random (winners of the other prizes are not eligible for this prize).

Your score in this stage also determines your qualification for Stage 2.


Stage 2: The League

Anyone who posts 3 or more globals in Stage 1 qualifies for the league stage, which begins on 16 August.

Qualifiers will be split into three Divisions depending on the number of globals they scored in Stage 1. The number of players in each division will depend on the number of qualifiers, as close as possible to the following:

• The top 20% players qualify for Division 1
• The next 30% of players qualify for Division 2
• The remaining 50% of qualifiers join Division 3

Example: 20 players qualify for Stage 2 by posting three or more globals in Stage 1. They are divided into Division 1 (the four players who scored the most globals), Division 2 (the next six highest-scoring players) and Division 3 (the ten lowest-scoring qualifiers).

Each player must play one match against each other player in their Division. Each match lasts for 24 hours. The winner of the match is the player who can score the most globals during the match period, with screenshots to be posted here. The winner scores 3 points. If both players post the same number of globals, they will be awarded 1 point each.

A fixture list with match dates will be posted here after the qualifiers are known.

Prizes for this stage are as follows:

• Division 1 winner receives 300 PED per person in the Division;
• Division 2 winner receives 150 PED per person in the Division;
• Division 3 winner receives 50 PED per person in the Division.

Example: With 20 qualifying players, the prizes will be 1200 PED, 900 PED and 500 PED.

General Rules

1. Screenshots must be posted within 24 hours of the global/HoF.
   
2. To be valid, all screenshots must clearly show the location, timestamp and the global text/value in the chat window.
   
3. Globals must be scored within the boundaries of Atrax Beach (Outback Land Area 7) and must be either an Atrax, Allophyl or mining global.
   
4. Teams are not allowed in this competition.
   
5. Fixtures for Stage 2 will be drawn up by the judge. Fixtures may only be rearranged in exceptional circumstances with the consent of the judge and both players in the match.
   
6. The judge of this competition is Oleg Oleg McMullery. In the event of any dispute, Oleg’s decision is final.
   
7. We reserve the right to disallow any entries in the case of suspected PhotoShopping or other foul play.

It just refers to the way we set up the matches.

I'll try to give a clearer example:

Say there are 5 people in Division 1: Oleg, Jade, Tom, Dick and Harry.

The fixture list might look something like this:

Day 1: Oleg vs Jade
Day 2: Tom v Dick
Day 3: Harry vs Oleg
Day 4: Jade vs Tom

And so on

Perhaps the word fixture is more British than I thought

Got it... no problem. Must be British, never heard it but probably used in sporting tournements.
