Equipping Calypso 2007-2008 Official Rules Announced!
...Thousands of PEDs in prizes...

Finally! The Official Rules and FAQ for the Equipping Calypso Series 2007-2008 has been finalized! After the astounding turnout (47 entrants!!) at Equipping Calypso June 2007, we have decided to make this more than just a monthly event. FOURTH COMPEITION IS SATURDAY, OCTOBER 27th, 2007 from 18:00-19:30 MA time!

• What is Emerald Lake’s Equipping Calypso Series?
Equipping Calypso is a joint effort between Emerald Lakes Mall and a dozen reputable Entropian crafters who can provide a variety of useful hunting gear to mid level hunters. The competition’s aim is to provide an opportunity for mid-range hunters to win new, better equipment to aid in their explorations and hunts on Calypso and to encourage a friendly competitive spirit!

• Do I Qualify to Compete?
In accordance to the goals of the Equipping Calypso competition, any Entropian wishing to compete is expected to meet a skill maximum cap of level 30 in any combat DAMAGE (dmg) skill. Because it is impossible to enforce equipment restrictions on events, it is our hope that this skill requirement will discourage exceptionally high skilled/well equipped hunters from trying to enter. You ONLY need to meet the skill maximum cap ONCE. After the first time you enter an Equipping Calypso competition and your name is entered on the Scoreboard, regardless of your skill progression, you may continue to compete until the end of the entire Series in 2008.

• How do I register?
Please pay close attention to the registration process!

o All tickets for Equipping Calypso will be reserved and sold by the event organizer, Elissia Eli Talor. You MUST acquire a ticket from Eli.

o At the time of purchase, your name will be recorded as an entrant. If you do not purchase your ticket from Eli and make sure your name is recorded, you will NOT qualify for any points or prizes, even if you register at the land marker.

o Buying tickets from/for others IS NOT ALLOWED. ALL ENTRANTS MUST BE SCANNED for the maximum skill cap before they can buy a ticket.

o If you purchase a ticket but later find out you can not register, please return your ticket for a refund with Eli. DO NOT RESELL THE TICKET. If your missing entry coincides with an unrecorded registration, you may be placed on waiting list for any future Equipping Calypso competitions.

o Remember: You will be disqualified if you do not enter for a ticket with Eli. Even if you compete in the event and win first place in the competition, you will NOT receive the prize, and the participant placed below you will be awarded instead.

o If your name is already recorded on the Scoreboard from a previous competition, you STILL MUST PURCHASE and REGISTER your own ticket with Eli, or you will be disqualified.

• What are the prizes?
Every month, we will invite a sponsoring player to provide us with a variety of items for our winner to choose from. Each competition, the first place winner will receive a 1000 PED shopping spree to any of the shops and stock lists provided by the sponsoring player. Winners may choose from a variety of category of items: armors, weapons, faps, attachments, and clothing. The final top three hunters on the Scoreboard at the end of the 2007-2008 series will be invited to choose from a list of 36 final prizes. More details about the Scoreboard below.

• How much do tickets cost?
Only 33 tickets are available for each competition. Each ticket costs 40 PEDS and qualifies the entrant for the primary event, all additional contests and point records for the final Scoreboard.

• What is the Scoreboard? How does it work?
The Equipping Calypso Scoreboard keeps track of all of the points each entrant accumulates over the course of the Series. Your placement in each competition will be used to determine the points you gain. At the conclusion of all Equipping Calypso competitions for the 2007-2008 series, all sponsors will be asked to provide three final prizes: First Prize range 900-1,000 PED (with mark-up), Second Prize range 500-600 PED (with mark-up) and Third Prize range 250-350 PED (with mark-up). The first place champion will be allowed to choose his/her prize item from any prize range, with a total of 36 choices. The second place champion will be allowed to choose his/her prize from the second and third prize ranges, with a total of 24 choices. Third place champion will be able to choose his/her prize from the third prize range, with a total of 12 choices.

• Will there be any additional contests within the main event?
Sometimes, depending on nothing in particular, there may be additional events within the main hunt, such as treasure hunts, hunting racing, search and rescue, number guessing, etc. These are not guaranteed, but may appear just for fun!

• What creatures and resources are on Emerald Lakes?
Currently the creatures on Emerald Lakes Mall consists of small maturity Atrox, maximum maturity Daikiba (careful, they hit hard!), maximum maturity Exarosaur, and medium maturity berycleds (provider-guardian). Minerals include: durulium, gazzurdite, kanerium, belkar, cave sap, typonolic steam, magerian mist, and garcen grease.

• Where IS Emerald Lakes?
Emerald Lakes is located on Amethera. The Emerald Lakes Land Area teleport is located at coordinates 14224, 24874 and the Emerald Lakes Mall teleport is located at coordinates 14215, 25114.

• What happened to Equipping Calypso No.1 this past June 2007?
Equipping Calypso No.1 has become more of a test pilot competition for the Series and Emerald Lake’s has had to make some hard decisions to preserve fairness. Because the rules above were not finalized at the time of the June competition, Emerald Lake’s will not distribute points for those participants on the Scoreboard. All entrants must follow qualification and registration precedures.

• Starting Line
At the start of the contest, ALL hunters are expected to wait at the landmarker until Eli announces GO. Even if the event time starts ticking, no one is to begin hunting until the GO has been given.

This is to stop anyone who might feel the urge to start shooting creatures before the starting time in hopes of stacking up bodies to loot when the contest begins. This HAS happened and is absolutely unacceptable. I will be checking off attendance, so to prevent any disqualifications, please be in clear view at the landmarker (even better, make a line or two!) before the start of the contest.

• Reporting Your Placement
If you would like to be recorded on the Equipping Calypso Scoreboard, you must take note of the place you end in during each hunting event. This system is based on honesty. If any two contestants are in dispute over their placement, each must be ready to provide a screen shot of the top list which will display that hunter’s ending place.
Therefore, to protect your place, please be ready to take a screenshot several minutes before the event closes, with the top list AND a time stamp both clearly visible. Thank you.

HI.. when does this event start in July? and what if someone has missed the first or the first two monthly events? Will they still be able to compete for the final prize?

May i suggest that instead of taking the total for the entire season, you take the average of the total number of events attended by a player, with minimum of 6 events? For example.. If a player wins 200 ped of loot in 1st event he/she attended, 150in the 2nd, 200 in 3rd, 200 in 4th and 150 ped each in the 5th and 6th event, his/her average comes out to be 175 ped.. Now this should only be valid if he has attended at least 6 of the total number of montlhy events hed (Whatever number they are). It's only fair, since some times one odd player may get a HOF, which will ensure is victory in the final standings and will also result in other players losing interest in the event....

The final prize for the entire series is not considerably greater than each individual prize per contest. I will not average out a contestants scores depending on the amount of times they attend, since there is as much reward for winning once as there will be for someone to come in mid-place twice. I give free choice to how many times a hunter wants to compete with the comfort of knowing that their scores will be added flat, without any more calculations

TIME AND DATE: This is TBA. If all of the details are not set by the last week of July, I will move the first contest to the first week of August, but the projected time is July 28th.

What rule will there be for the events? Most total loot, highest single loot?
How long will one single event last? 1hour, 2hours?

I'm a little confused about the prizes...

Does this mean the winner is only going to have one shop(sponsor) to use 1k peds in? So if i win and the shop is full of clothes i have to buy clothes for 1k?
In the first lines yo say "to provide us with a variety of items for our winner to choose from."
Does this tell us that the winner get to chose one special item except the 1k ped price?

And I'll also would like to know if there is any other price for 2nd or 3rd or any random or other prices...

Btw, you should make a list where you can signup for future events.
So you get a list of valid competitors within the skill req.
This is to make it possible to skill further, as you wrote one may get out of the lvl 30 mark... For example if I cant make it to the first 2 events and im at lvl 28-29, then when i get to the 3rd event I managed to get to lvl 31 and cant join. that would suck

Also after reading through the event, I get a feeling that you're planning to give the price to the winner peronaly after the event, to avaoid cheating.
Im not sure i would like to join an event where there is no price from the event system, but i guess thats maybe just me, never did any events yet :p

Events at Emeralds are usually 1.5 hours, most total loot wins the prize.

I give careful consideration to the crafters we will bring, and it will be very unlikely that I will choose a clothing only crafter, so no worries!

You will get the final prize by hand. You even get a shopping partner. You can cart me around until you decide what item(s) you want to spend your 1000 ped on.

Yes I will be handing it out by hand. It is, again, an honesty issue. But I represent Emerald Lakes Mall and I assure you that we have a lot more to lose than gain by a 1000 ped scam

Please refer to the skill cap section of the rules. "You ONLY need to meet the skill maximum cap ONCE.
