I did some searching on the forums, and couldn't see that this idea has been done yet, so I thought I would see if I could make it happen.

I would like to document a live game of chess being played on Amethera using colonists as the chess pieces. Exact Coordinates will be sent to each participant via PM or ingame chat...
White and Black Pieces will need to be determined by the following:
White Team: White shirt, Light Colored Shirt, No Shirt
Black Team: Black Shirt, Dark Colored Shirt

This is taking place on Saturday November 10 at 16:00 MA time.

The Pawns will have Pistols
The Rooks will have Axes
The Knights will have Swords
The Bishops will have Daggers
The Queens will have Whips
The Kings will have BLP Rifles

Participants will have to supply their own gear, I cannot supply everything.

On top of that, I would like to have 2 volunteers to play the game. The chess pieces themselves will need no knowledge of how to play the game. The pieces will be controlled by commands from one of the two actual players.

How it will work: What will happen is, we will go to the PvP area (to be determined) and then set up the board.

The pieces will take their place on the board. Everyone will have their respective weapons equipped.

Edit: Time between each move will be limited to something like 30 seconds... or one minute to keep game-play moving
When the player makes a move, the player will instruct which piece to move where on the board. If the player is instructing a piece to take another piece of the opposing team, the piece who's turn it is will PvP kill the other piece using their respective weapon. The opposing piece will not fight back [color="red"]Edit:

When the opposing piece is killed, he/she will revive at the nearest terminal, and then may return to the field is he/she wishes to observe the rest of the game play.

After the game, I will work on the movie and screen shots, and post them to the Entropia Forum, and the NBK Sub-Forum.

I've constructed a set out of PC signs; the main problem with that is the cost of 4400 ped to make 1 full set. I've only uploaded 2 pieces to signs so far. I'd be more than happy to be one of the 2 players; however, I must warn you that anyone playing could cheat by using a computer to help them. I coached chess up until recently and do some online advising still. Let me know if you'd like me to play. GL with the idea. I suppose I could also help with crowd control.

great idea, but how will you keep the other...err...PVP PK'rs from coming to the game and wiping out the board and all observers?

maybe you should hold it in a land area and contact the owner to turn on PVP...at least you would keep most of the PK'rs out that way as you would not be lootable.

or maybe an event zone, like the one on ithica.

White Team: White shirt, Bleced Shirt
Black Team: Black Shirt, Uncolored gray Shirt

Then more players can join and you mite get the full effect of it

Since the playes of each team should have det same color to get the chees effect

This is True, however, since this is a friendly game, and there are no prizes at stake (as of right now) I would hope that everyone would participate fairly, and stick to the rules of the game. If not, well, then that is life I guess

As far as this goes, it is not going to be in one of the named, or lootable PVP zones, just at an area on Amethera where there is a low/no spawn of mobs, and the area happens to be PVP...

Also, hopefully I will have some higher level players who will help with crowd/mob control, as Mercury has volunteered above... So with any luck, the event will come off semi-smoothly.

This is a great idea, and I played around with ideas on how to make it consistant. Perhaps we can have a tailor sponsor the event by providing some bleached / non bleached (M) and (F) basic shirts so we all match. I am sure everyone involved would be nice enough to return the shirts when done. (I would hope.)
