LetterRun - an event for beginners (15.12.2007)

Dear universe members,

I am pleased to announce a new event - “LetterRun”. This project targets relatively new members of the Entropia Universe. The initial prize pool was increased by 200 PED, provided by our sponsor - Anshe Bank

Short event description: It is an anagram based game, where participants, leaving a start point, will have to visit three outposts and gather all letters of a six letter word. A correct word has to be constructed using those letter. The first three participants to reach the final checkpoint alive and to tell me the correct word in a private chat will be our winners.

Registration/Participation fee: The participation is free of charge.

Date, time and place: The event will be held on Saturday, December 15, 2007, 19:00 MA time. Start point – Biolab entrance in Port Atlantis.

Armor: Full TT Gnome Armor

Weapon: Ukash IW36 (L) pistol

Medical kit: Vivo T1

Ammo: 1k light ammo cells

Additional prize: Lesser TP Chip (11.26 TT value), 500 ME and full TT NeoPsion Aa Mindforce implant

Second place:

Armor: Full TT Pixie Armor

Weapon: Solomate Opalo

Medical kit: Vivo T1

Ammo: 500 medium ammo cells

Third place:

Weapon: Solomate Opalo

Ammo: 250 medium ammo cells

Additional prizes: During the prize ceremony we will have a random drawing for additional prizes.

Eligibility: All players with agility between level 5 and level 20 are welcome to take part in the event (scanning will be held before the event starts).

Number of participants: First 25 players to register

Registration: Send me a PM here with your full in-game name and your agility level or contact me in-game.

Registration deadline: December 13, 2007, 20.00 MA time. Deadline is extended until December 14, 20:00 MA time. Once registered, if you will not be able to be make it for the event, please notify me via PM at least a day in advance. Participants will be assigned sequence numbers which they will use at check points

Event rules:
In order to collect letters you will have to visit three outposts.

At each of them you will collect letters (the procedure of collecting letters is explained in the FAQ post below), obtain two letters of your word and shout your number in the main chat. Letters will be given in a mixed order. One can only use the given letters to make an English word. If there are more than one possible words, you are free to report any of them.

All participants will start the race at the same time and place.

Outpost No.1 - "PA Swamp Camp" is located to the North-North-West of Port Atlantis (5600x9182).

Outpost No. 2 - "Nus Lull" is located at 6153 x9793.

Outpost No. 3 can be found at 6051x10535.

Having collected all the letters you have to head to the Billy’s Spaceship Afterworld (8116x10564), where you will have to report the complete word.

All participants, who did not make it alive to any of the outposts or the Billy’s Spaceship, will be eliminated. It is not allowed to use Teleporting chips and ‘T’ Revivals.

The event will stop as soon as the three winners will be determined or due to a 45 minute timeout.

The winners will be announced shortly after the event at Anshe Bank in New Oxford once the data with names and timing is collected and analyzed.

You are allowed to wear any armor and use weapons for self-defense.

FAQs

1. How do I collect letters?
New letter collecting procedure: Near each of the specified outposts you will have to find a person with a pet standing near. The letters will be written instead of the pet's name. In order to see it, you have to point the mouse on it or aim at the pet. Once collected the letters, you have to check in with our crew member by shouting your number in the main chat in the following way: "LetterRun "number"(your number goes here)".

NOTE: Pets cannot stand too close to the outposts, so they will be placed in the maximum close distance to the areas highlighted on screenshots in the opening post.


2. Am I allowed to register my disciple/friend/society mate?
Yes, you are allowed to register your disciple/friend/society mate if they have problems with registering via forum and as long as they read all the instructions.

3. Am I allowed to wear armor?
Yes, you are.

4. Am I allowed to use weapons for self-defense?
Yes, you are.

5. Am I allowed to use medical kits?
Yes, you are.

6. What mobs are there on the way?
On your way you can meet Berycled, Combibo, Cornundacauda, Cornundos, Daikiba, Exorasaur and Kereros. Also, between the last outpost and Billy's Spaceship you can meet Drone Generation 1, Molisk and Faucervix.

Note: Please remeber that even though the majority of the listed above mobs are not very aggressive and will not attack you when you pass by very close, the aggro range for two and more people running together is widened. So if you are running in the party of other contestants, do not rush into a herd of "nonaggro" mobs, as you would've done when you are alone.

The aggro range for Drones and Faucervixes is wider than for all the other mobs listed above. So make sure to keep them outside your inner circle on radar (or may be even further, if you are not alone). However, you will meet them only on your way to Billy's Spaceship, and not between the outposts.

7. What do I do with the number assigned to me?
These numbers are used to avoid people passing on the letters to each other without going through all the checkpoints individually. Once you have checked the avatar info and collected the letter, you will have to shout your number in the main chat. Our crew member will take a note and check if the number shouted by you belongs to the registered avatar. If you do not appear at one of three checkpoints, you will be disqualified.

8. What number is assigned to me?
The number asigned to you is a sequential number under which you stand in the participant's list.


9. What happens if I get disconnected from the server? Can I reconnect and keep running from the point where I was disconnected?
If you get disconnected, you aref ree to re-connect and continue the race. However, we cannot reimburse you time you have lost while being offline.

10. Am I allowed to use 'T' Revivals and TP chips?
As mentioned in rules, you are NOT allowed to use them. There will be our prople standing at all revival terminals and making lists of all the revived people during the event time. Once you have revived, you are automatically disqualified from the competition.

11. Am I allowed to team up with other participants or with other people to clear my path or to put them on follow?
It is an individual competition, NO teaming is encouraged.

12. Am I allowed to hire people to block other people's way.
It is not allowed to do so, it will be considered to be a cheating.

Great event for begginers. Ill sponsor first prize with Lesser tp Chip (around 10ped tt) 500 or so me and the tt implant. Since now they wont have to run to get to places Hope this helps them exlpore.
