Once upon a time, there was a hunter and his name was Jim.
He was fairly new to hunting and his loot wasn't good, so he was very sad all the time. Jealously he looked to a more skilled hunter, who was able to use his weapons better, thus improving his economy and return. This hunter was also able to deal damage faster, so he received less dents in his armor, so his repair cost at the local blacksmith was lower as well. So Jim sat down and cried. After a while he decided to visit his old friend, the crafter Joe. He went to Joe's house, knocked on the door. Joe opened the door, "Hey Jim, how are you doing?" On the way in the talked and sat down. Jim: "As bad as always. All those more skilled hunters are way better in eco and dam/sec than me." Joe replied "How so? What is the effect of it?" Jim: "Well, you have to see the total loot as some kind of round cake. Your eco, especially compared to other hunters, determines what size your piece of the cake will be compared to the others." Joe: "Ah, yes. And at the moment you are not as skilled as them. So why don't you skill more?" Jim: "Bah, that is boring. I want to be able to take the Atrox down now!" He sighted, "Anyway, how are you?" Joe suddenly looked stunned and sad "Not good either. You remember the Jester i crafted for you some weeks ago?" Jim took a red rifle out "Yes, of course. I always have it with me." Joe: "Would you ever think of buying another one from me?" Jim: "Nah, not really. This one i can repair easily, so why should I?" Joe: "See, that is my problem. All my stuff is designed for easy repairs. That way I don't get customers." Jim: "Damn, thats bad indeed. I mean, you gotta feed your kids too, don't you?" Joe: "My prayers haven't heard yet. Until i find a solution for this problem it will be very hard for me.", he sobed. And suddenly tears started to roll out of his eyes. And Jim started whining too, his tears dripping on the Jester. Jim left and sadly went home. One day, the sky cleared and the L items appeared. Joe was happy, he suddenly had customers. And Jim was suddenly way more eco and had a better dam per sec than the hunter who hunted and skilled a long time before, who he envied before. The better eco compared to those hunters led to more loot, or a bigger size of the cake. Also the dam/sec was better, so he even had lower armor repair cost than this old hunter. This hunter later went bankrupt, but that is another fate, we won't look upon. So the time passed by. Slowly but surely, Jim found that his hunting return went worse again, and wondered why. He looked around and found that many more hunters used the L items. He remembered the cake of total loot and came to the conclusion that he was still more eco than the old hunter before, but many more hunters were at the same stage as he was now. Of course, that way the piece of the cake, or loot in this case, was devided by more people. They had of course more right on a bigger piece than the old hunter had had, but now there were way more. So the pieces became more, thus the size lower. Jim was worried and thought about it. His solution were amps. Those gave him an actual advantage in eco and dam per sec to other hunters! But those hunters did that as well. When Jim wanted to get a bigger amp, he found they don't loot anymore! And Jim cried again. He was very very sad. But still, at least he could take the prey way faster down than he could do before. Another day, when he woke up and went hunting, he sensed a change. The prey became smarter, actually that smart, to get more HP. First it just started with Ambulimax, but it soon came to Atrox and many other animals as well. They took way longer to kill now, thus increasing the cost on the armor again. Back at home that day, he thought about all of those changes. He wanted a shortcut to better eco and better dam per sec which he got. Then all others had the same, so the advantage was gone. Then the HP of the animals was increased, which made the gained dam per sec compared to the old weapons rather useless. At this moment he realised, that he was back to square one in the end. And he cried... ---------- I have to admit that this is how I feel it has happened Also I have to admit that it was written by a melee user, who played for 2 years and then an opalo newbie could outeco me easily (and no, I didn't went bankrupt )now, after all the changes, all the happiness of the sweet L items (which destroyed the melee profession more or less) and all the crying about "we need customers for the items we craft" "why cant i max my jester earlier than a just mk2" "amps dont drop anymore!" "mobs became more HP!" what did actually change compared to the "old world" without L stuff? except that there was a use of skills besides, that is no whining post, couldn't be farther away from one actually, i find the whole situation and changes of it rather funny ![]() hf ![]() |
