He can buy an external if he needs to later... I think this setup is very good for EU

The fan is the scariest part since it fits soooo tightly you will be affraid of snapping it... is this helping with the install and making you fear more?

Personally i prefer to pay a measly 100 or so bucks to get somone else to do it.... I got warranty on my power source when i accidentally switched eh voltage while on

I forgot to mention a 500gig data hard drive though ^^ case has 6 HD slots.

Update:

Waiting for raptor to arrive still, but spent 6 hrs putting everything else together. I had to read a lot of manuals to figure out where all the connectors go and where to screw what in but it's all done save for the raptor and a wireless card! All things considered, the actual work only took 30minutes.

I had only 1 misstep, the custom fan was too big to install with the MB screwed into the case so I had to remove it, install the fan, then screw it all back into the case. 1 screw for the motherboard also had to be left out due to the fan blocking access. Also, the cpu gel I applied was somewhat messed up due to seating the fan over the cpu, and then having to take it off.

I haven't tried to turn it on, too scared to at the moment. Will wait to plug the raptor in before taking the plunge.

QUESTION: 1 thing I wasn't able to find an answer in the manuals, the case has an external SATA (eSATA) connection, but I couldn't figure out where on the MB the internal connector goes. The wire connector is the same as a regular SATA cable but I'm afraid to plug it into 1 of the 6 SATA slots. There are no other similar connectors on the MB, so it goes there or the MB doesn't support it. (the back of the MB has 1 eSATA connection already tho).

Can I just plug the eSATA line into a regular SATA slot?

QUESTION:
Assuming the build turns on, is there anything I should (first) other than installing Vista? Any settings I should make in BIOS? Or system tests?

Worst case scenario, nothing will happen. Bios will load as normal (doesn't need a HD plugged in to work. You may have to configure the HD...but usually auto setting in bios can do that

hehehe ^^ go idiot proof connectors! I'll plug it in when I open the case for the raptor.

I wanted to be cautious as I read in the manual that though USB and 1394 internal connectors are the same, they will cause damage if plugged incorrectly.

I have found it sometimes useful to put the CPU overheat limit from bios, so that it will kill the power from the comp if it reaches over a certain limit, which is under your processors "dead"-temperature limit. Just in case, if your fan wont go on or your thermal paste isnt dead on, these new processors tend to heat really fast if heat has no path to go from the processor...

Just wondering why u got a raptor? it's more or less meaning less to get a 10krpm disk. The only advantage you will get is roughly 1-2 seconds faster loading times. Also you should have gotten a quadcore as they are almost the same price as the dual cores. But seems to be a nice system anyhow though.
