I *think* it's supposed to be updated ...but it hardly matters the difference between 3+4 isn't really critical unless you're running intensive simulation software etc :p

(and why would you run that kind of software on vista anyway)
Both XP and Vista 32-bit can handle and recognize 4 gig of RAM. THOUGH with 32-bits availible you only have enough addresses to allocate a total of 4096 Mb RAM. With the availible addresses all hardware need to be allocated too, such as sound card, network card and so. After that the video RAM on your graphics card are addressed and allocated, and last of all with the remaining addresses the main physical RAM is allocated. And since the addresses left will not be enough to allocate all RAM, you will be ending up with 3.0 - 3.5 GB of RAM. If you have an SLI configuration you will end up with even less. This will never, and can never be "upgraded" or patched. Only solution for this is to run a 64-bit OS.

I concur, I've got SLi and 4GB RAM on 32-Bit XP and can only see 3GB of my RAM. Question is, can Entropia Universe run on 64-Bit Vista?

Oh and one more thing, the current SP1 for Vista is a "release candidate" or "beta" if you prefer. It has thousands of documented errors that you can read about if you're a technet subscriber. It is currently NOT recommended to install SP1 for Vista as an attempt to SOLVE problems at this time. My technical contact at Microsoft tell me that the REAL Vista SP1 will not be released untill end of March.

Yes, It can, but in emulated 32-bit mode, which does not give increased performance anyway. In worst case it'll end up giving you even less performance. Anyhow, in 32-bit native or emulated mode the kernel is limited to allocating a maximum of 2Gb RAM to a single process or executable anyway, no matter how much RAM you have.

I guess that's why Entropia ClientLoader only reports 2 GB of my 3 GB utilised of my 4 GB of RAM.... ain't computers brilliant!

Actually on reflection, while you were answering my question, it does not answer it Has anyone actually tried running on 64-Bit in 32-Bit emulation mode? Did they have issues etc? (Given now that for the most part, EU does actually work on Vista now (assuming in 32-Bit native.))

Actually, you got me. I did not try Entropia on 64-bit Vista, my answer was pure theory. I did however try it on XP 64-bit, and that worked fine. Considering that windows 64-bit XP/Vista is not true native 64-bit and that only the windows kernel is "64-bit", there should be no huge functionality difference between xp 64 and vista 64. Hence I assumed that Vista 64 would be no problem. That offcourse is a stupid assumption to make

Next question, really toward MindArk, are they going to make a 64-Bit compiled version?

Does CryEngine2 support 64-Bit native operation? No information on the CryTek website about this.

Given that within the next 10 years, all machines will be delivered as 64-Bit hardware and software implementations, it would really make sense for MindArk to factor in 64-Bit support as soon as possible. Would not be difficult for the 32-Bit clientloader and downloader to figure out which game files to download for a particular client.

Yeah, that is most likley it. When they made that system performance check in the client loader they could have cheated and just asked the system how much RAM that is installed with a perfmon pointer. Instead they have asked how much RAM that is availible for allocation. Which will be 2Gb if you have 4Gb installed, since 2Gb is the max that can be allocated to entropia.exe under a 32-bit kernel.
