Hello New Ambassadors! note: This was posted in the ambassadors section, and I was told to post it in the public ![]() ![]() Welcome to the Mindark Ambassador Section, and congratulations on being accepted to the ambassador program! I am not an official representative of Mindark (as of this posting anyhow). What I say here is subject to change. But, I would like to give you some insight on how everything is going to work. As I attend more and more conventions, and Mindark invites more ambassadors, this information will be updated, and more important to know. Transportation to and from the City of the Convention Da Plane Da Plane! Mindark will pay your travel to and from your home city to the city in which the convention is being held. I would HIGHLY recommend booking your flight as soon as you read this. Prices only get higher the closer you get to the convention date. You will need to pay for it in advance, and Mindark will reimburse you. Obviously if you don’t show up, you don’t get reimbursed. Remember to read up on the latest and greatest Airline rules prior to going to the airport. Getting stuck in security is a pain! Hotel Arrangements Hey,I can see our hotel from here! Mindark will setup the entire hotel stay. They will need to confirm what dates you will be attending. You will need to bring a credit card for a room deposit. Mindark will pay for your room, but not your room service. No drinking all the little cocktails in the fridge on Mindark’s dime. Remember to bring your own pillow and blanket if you wish to sleep normally. I travel a lot, and find that those beds never feel right… Transportation to and from the Hotel I..uh..didn't have change for cab fare. While I know you probably will want to go site seeing, Mindark will only pay for your transportation to and from the convention and hotel. Bring cash, as some cab drivers will not accept credit cards. Keep the receipts, and Mindark will reimburse you. Food! MMmmm… donuts! To the best of my recollection, Mindark doesn’t pay for meals. They will usually have a group meal in which they do pay for, and they always have refreshments at the booth. So, remember to bring money for food. Don’t take advantage of the group meal and get hammered on the free alcohol. Justin will turn you into a snable and then PVP your ass! (unless of course your share your loot with him) The Convention! Your fellow Ambassadors Hi, my name is Bob You will be meeting a lot of people while at the convention. The people you will see the most are your fellow ambassadors. They are your friends/amigos/amis/vännen/ Freundinnen. They are all there for the same reason as you, a free trip! (Just kidding) They are there to help promote EU better. We know better than Mindark on how to promote the universe. If there’s someone you have a problem with, be sure to keep it to yourself. There’s no PVP at conventions. Apparently local police authorities have issues with real life PVP…. The Mindark Staff Hey, I just work here. The Mindark staff is great. From the wild Justin, to the crazy Frank, to the huge David, to the I-never-change-my-tie John. If you meet Lars, ask him where to find the cleaning supplies . Anyhow, These guys do this a lot now. They supposedly know what they are doing. They are (semi) professionals! Don’t go asking if they know how to loot a mod-fap. They have about as much clue on that subject as you do on it. They are there to help promote EU, be kind enough to not bother them with questions that have no clue as to the answers. The Press When the press quit crucifying me, I'll know I've been in this business too long. You will meet lots of press people while you are there. If at ALL possible, direct anyone identified as press to a Mindark staff member. This is crucial. They know what to say to make things look great. Unless you’ve been trained in the secret Jedi Mindark powers (much like me), try to limit what you say to them. “Oh yeah, I blew 10k in the game last week on a bad hunt.” Would NOT go over very well with the press… The normal folk (a.k.a. The GAMERS!!!!) All your base are belong to us Tell them what you think. Your biggest responsibility here is to get other gamers to come join us. I could be wrong here, your biggest responsibility could be to make sure you’ve eaten enough donuts, and drank enough beer before noon. But the majority of Ambassadors will be there talking about the universe. Tell everyone the truth, but be positive. Nobody wants to hear that you have the only uber gun in the universe. They want to know that you have one of only five that have been discovered. They want to know that you can play for free, not that you think it will take years to play for free. Be POSITIVE! Before/After the Convention Site see, eat, have fun, drink, get arrested. Well, don’t get arrested, Mindark does not pay bail money (that I’ve heard of). Have a great time. Bring a camera. Bring shorts/bathing suits/g-strings/thongs. The guys at Mindark are real people. They like to have a good time. That’s what this is truly all about. Have a great time, and share your great time, both in game and out of game with everyone, new and old. People love great stories, and it’s even better when you say it was paid for by Mindark ![]() ~Red |

A tip from Mindbuster (as read directly below this post, lol) Quote:
And, if you have been to a convention and have some more tips, feel free to post em, and I'll add em to the original post. Last edited by Dion Red Strike; 03-17-2008 at 13:09. |

Being an Ambassador without being an Ambassador
But... You can be an Ambassador without getting reimbursed for stuff you do, it's not all about free trips and hotel rooms, you can be a great poster on forums, tell your friends and relatives about Entropia, make cool websites, print out stickers and put them up at school, at work, in busses and at the train station. Becoming an Ambassador without going to conventions ...what's in it for me then Spreading the word makes Entropia grow, the more players the bigger the economy, which in the end can be good for you, so if you dont live in some fancy country with big Fairs you can still be part of the Ambassador staff, MindArk may notice you and send you a pretty Ambassadors badge, by then you can contact MindArk and ask for Posters and the like which you can put up in you local netcafe (I did ) and other places like smaller computer related fairs which MindArk doesnt attend.Last edited by MindBuster; 03-16-2008 at 07:56. Here are some of the things I learned as an ambassador at that E-for all Convention in L.A.
Map Quest Is your friend. Your in a new city it is easy to get lost. It is better look up where your going to be in advanced then wondering lost at a airport. Find a place that sells red bull. you will be on your feet a lot, running around, and partying :-) You might have a hard time sleeping from all the excitement. Get to know your fellow ambassadors. They can become your best friends and help you out if you get lost. Bring some cash with you. Some times there are events that require cash taxi rides, parking fees, tips etc.. Enjoy and have fun. Dont stress your self out. You can have fun too! |
