...this may change or modify the thoughts being shared but.... in the past, PE/EU was an "always loot" game. Nowadays, there is potential for No Loots but back a few years, each critter had a minimum loot that you would ALWAYS receive no matter what.

IMHO, it is better now. Higher ATH's and increased market saturation. Along with the Corporate and Investor attraction to EU (and it's real cash economy) the experience is improved.

just my 2 pec,
darri

hmmm....I think the really best thing would be, if you would really always get some loot.
Does not have to be much, even one or two oils would do the trick.
Think the worst I had were 10 no-looters when hunting snables.
Ammo was running low and all the sudden I got several minis and only lost about 10% that run.

And "loot cycles"....I will believe in them as soon as I get the No.1 ATH of a Chirpy young. If there are really cycles there are surely a lot of different ones. There would be personal cycles, creature cycles, gloabal cycles, MA haveing a bad day cycles, Thursday cycles, wheater cycles, Mars in conjunction to Venus cycles and the plain and simple "out of luck, please insert coin to replay" cycles.

Sometimes this service feels like a real big manipulation game...
You get into a routine doing something, you seem to profit and then all the sudden it does not work anymore. You keep on trying doing your routine, because you conditioned your self to the profit and then spend more on doing the same mistake over and over again.
Although I am still a noob...best thing to do is spend your PEDS on having fun, thats the best profit you will have. Greed will make you only unhappy.
And if yo really think you are smart enough to "understand the system", better get interested in quantuum physics, will show you how dumb all of us are.

I have been playing project entropia as well... and it was my only mmorpg

and I must say, the loot was more rewarding then entropia universe.
You got peds in loot and nice items, like a10x amps and axes, and justifier mk2's. I have looted nemesis parts, powerfull heal chips, an arr8000m and other really nice items.

Chaos Theory has shown that you really only need 3 variable inputs to get some REALLY varied and random output, so they'd only need Personal Cycle, Mob Cycle and Location cycle.. it would still be unpredicatable. It's called Sensitive Dependance to Initial Conditions in Non-Linear Systems, and EU is the MOTHER of all Non-Linear systems...

BUT, I didn't mean to get into Loot Theories here, so I will get back on topic.

Entropia is the first and Only MMORPG I've been envolved in, and I just love it. If I'm getting bad loot then I tend to realise I'm doing it wrong, or doing it in the wrong place, or doing the wrong ITs...

My dilemma, always, when in a bad loot run is that feeling that one of 2 possibilities exist. Either I'm in the wrong place at the wrong time... OR some huge HoF is about to drop... and it's very hard to tell the difference. I frequently end up chasing that big drop and blowing my entire wad, so's to speak....

But I'm refining my understanding all the time. Threads like this help. EF is a wealth of useful information from more experienced players, and a bit of healthy debate is almost, ALMOST, as much fun as shooting the shit out of big mobs that just might drop a large sum of Actual RL money...

I would expect to be able to get at least SOMEthing from most of the mobs I kill. I mean, all animals have at least one ANIMAL HIDE, pretty much every Molisk should have more or less MOLISK TEETH, and hell aren't bots made of metal that I should be able to haul to the local scrap yard? People IRL are living off doing that.

You always get better conditions in a beta (aka "project").
My ava is only 4 months old and I am really not happy, that I found out about Entropia that late. But still, my return rate seems to be around 80%, although I do not hunt at all economical and mainly for fun. If one sees it as a "game", it is very expensive.
As an "investment" it is not. Lost about 20% of my deposits, mainly because I did some very, very stupid things (like hunting Allophyl Stalkers).
But still, that loss was none because I really enjoyed it

The ones that were in EP have really not a single reason to complain, they had a hell lot of chances and they simply TTed them

Ok, long title, so I'll try to make it simple

I got to thinking about this while reading another thread with people whining about loot....

Because people have played other games in which 'loot' happens (any RPG basically), a lot of users have come to expect 'I open box, I get stuff' or 'I kill monster, I get stuff'.

Because of these other games, many people come to Entropia and expect the same thing. The archaic 'I killed monster, I get stuff' attitude often leads to dissapointment of loot. The belief that you will 'loot stuff' after kiling a monster is perpetuated by these other games still giving you stuff for killing a monster.

However, upon closer inspection, you will findd that not every single monster, in most of these other games, gives you loot. So, why would one expect the same from Entropia? Because money is involved? Hmmm... doesn't seem likely to me... if anything, if money is involved, I would suspect that loot should drop far less than in other games.

Anyhow, so, people that expect to loot well are not realizing the dynamics of the situation, and often continue doing the same thing expecting different restults. 'Kill monster, no loot' then 'kill monster, no loot' then they think 'one more, and it will loot', and what do you know, 'kill monster no loot'. At this point the player gets frustrated, and leaves. They come back the next day, and think 'That monster was shit yesterday, I'll try a different monster'. And the cycle continues.

When in fact, a player should do this;
'Kill monster, no loot' then, 'kill monster, no loot', then 'I need to go kill something else, right now, and come back to thee another day'. If at that point, another location isn't working, make a decision to either go crafting or mining, or change locations again.

In other games, there is no 'cycle' of what is looting when. In Entropia, there is. We all know that there is. None of us (at least publicly) know the exact specifics of the cycle, but we know there is one. Use this to your advantage.

So, in conclusion, the next time you are looting bad, leave the area. Leave now, go elsewhere. Try the area again another day, if it's still looting bad, gtfo. Don't come here to whine, like many many people before you, change what you do, or where you do it. Don't bother thinking that you should receive loot because you've spent money (ammo, decay, bombs, materials, whatever), but realize that life helps those who think for themselves.

This has been a public broadcast announcement from the 'WGTFO' foundation

You must have been reading my complaint....as a newbie I don't have alot of choice to go craft..or mine..I don't have the cash to afford the equipment. I DO change areas..and sometimes things drop.....sometimes.

I think you need to experience the newbie experience of TODAY...not 3 years ago...and don't assume that because we make truthful statements about how difficult it is to survive ....that we are whiners.

Whiner is a word that is used when the person using it...is totally oblivious of the person's situation....the person he is applying that label to.

I try very hard, I work very hard...to try to gain money so that I can ...like you begin to craft. So far its not working well....yes I realize that you can't make money off MA...yes I realize you have to make money off other players...I am trying to get to the point where I can afford to do that.

End of Story

Was it your post? I don't recall....

And on to the noobie thing.... My wife is still quite noobie... I don't know when she made her avatar, but she only seriously started playing last Summer (less than a year now).... She graduated after many months of discipleship (like I said, she didn't play much, until Sept or so..)... I have seen her blow my ped in crazy ways I never thought possible, in amount I thought only I could blow through...

But, she was a noob...

Heh... she gets so pissed when I call her a noob..

Anyhow, I regress..

Now that she has learned, she loses less... Losing is inevitable... We cannot create money, we can only shift money around. Someone, eventually, is going to lose money, because Mindark is continually spending money (staff, lights, etc). The only interesting part in that statement though is, Ads create money, and by watching ads, we are generating more revenue... so, in theory, if we all watched enough ads to pay Mindarks bills, Mindark would be able to 'charge' less in the amount they take from decay.

But, again, I regress..

Being a noob or not is irrelevant... Having knowledge though, is quite relevant...
