How honest are you when its about money?

I once found a robot ship, or found again I should say. Actually DanielleYourMom found it first while mining. It spawned right next to me and she had already cleared away. Since the ships only signal from a great distance, she wasn't right there. I was freakin' out at actually finding one. I looted it without looking in the chat box. She was alerting me that her finder had located it. I got a beacon in the loot. We chatted for a sec and she explained that she had located it with her finder. I opened a trade wither her and gave her the beacon (she let me keep the rest of the residue that made up the 50 peds ). I got something much more valuable than a beacon. I gained a friend in EU.

The point is that honesty and integrity will get you further in life and ingame. Me walking away with that beacon because I pushed the red button would have been wrong. There are plenty of people in the game trying to mess someone over. If you don't do what's right when you have the chance, then what better are you than a scammer?

That may be a bit idealistic, but if you have an opportunity to do the right thing, then why not? If for nothing else, karma can be a *****! I'd rather be building the good stuff, than the paybacks . . . because they're also a *****!

I very highly agree with that statement Twitchie.
When it comes to Money/ Items in EU or Real life. I can absolutely say I am an Honest Person. I was at TI castle and a miner was having trouble getting his spacecraft because of the Foul. so he was asking for help. I found the ship but he had died so I looted it and gave him his beacon and residue. I did not have to do anything for the guy. but i did take the time when I was supposed to be on a Fap job to help the Guy those clients understood what i was doing.

I could have ran with the items but i did not. what would I gain but a headache later on and possibly give that player a Reason to quit EU.

The point is that honesty and integrity will get you further in life and in game.
If there are a Million reasons as to Why not to do a Thing, and only a few that would benefit you but harm others. Be Wise and Choose the Best Path Possible.

Actually I would. I think if someone asked me if it was my spacecraft I wouldn't take it. If I came across one and there was noone around - that's a different story. I'd wait to see if someone comes and then loot it if noone comes within lets say 5-10min.

And as for opening question - I am honest with money, and maybe even to honest.
I always calculate when I sell resources and few times I told the buyers they payed me too much... Considering how low markup they pay sometimes I think I shouldn't have done it, but I can't help it. I am not rich and I know how it sucks to be poor in game and I know the feeling when you are scammed in game and made even more poor than before. And there is thin line between scamming and dishonesty.

I had an extra-part time job a few years ago where I was paid in cash every two weeks.

One payday I got my envelope filled with money and stuck it in my jacket and left.

While driving home I counted the money at a traffic light and realized I had been paid $20 too much. I drove back to the store - told the boss about the mistake - and we counted it together. Sure enough, $20 too much.

My boss gave me the strangest look. He really couldn't believe that I had drove all the way back and gave up the extra $20.

What he didn't know is that if I kept the money I wouldn't have been able to sleep at all that night. Giving back the $20 made sure I had a good night's rest. I'm crazy like that.

i came accross one months and months ago and killed the bots and waited by it. I saw a guy run into range, he saw me stood next to it and asked if it was mine.

I replied no and he started running towards it so i looted it thinking he would rob it.

5 mins later miner wandered by asking if i had seen his ship, i explained what happened and gave him his 50ped of res.

What's the difference between waiting *cough cough* 5~10minutes by a spacecraft to see if some poor miner comes back to claim 'their loot' and some passerby asking you if that is your ship over there and you saying 'ofc it is'?

in either situation, you have the exact same decision to make, and the results will be identical too.. YOU either loot the craft, or YOU don't.

I don't see how being a 'good samaritan' and waiting 5 or 10 minutes to see if someone comes back before you pillage 'their' craft helps you to sleep at night. what if they return at the 11th minute and you are long gone?? And, where did this unwritten waiting time come from?

In both situations, no one actually has a claim for the space craft, whether it is fictional or not, what me finds, me keeps!

Honesty always pays. I was honest (it was 20 ped difference) while trading with some uber miner and it turned out very well for me an for him as well . We got to the point where he left ks of peds of ores with me without colateral to sell them for a wee fee cos he was too busy dropping those bombs. Now I'm too busy huntin and minin myself to trade but hell I got a nice friend money couldn't buy!
