Project Diversity failed.

This will be quite a long post, and i ask you to read all of it before you reply because i dont want alot of garbage replies. This thread has nothing to do with hunting profits or loss, nor the ability to kill the mobs.

Now you all know about the recent VUs with the health and regeneration changes to certain mobs, which were done to increase diversity within our universe. While this was very successfull on certain mobs, it has caused some disturbance as well. Let me explain.

Prior to the last VU the four diffrent domes on CP were very diffrent. You had the small domes, 1 & 2, which were full of low hp and mainly low dmg mobs that any mid level hunter could kill easily one at a time, or manage a few at a time. Then you had dome 3 which was pretty much high hp and extreme dmg mobs (mainly due to the fact you couldnt mitigate the dmg very well). And you had dome 4 which was full of high hp high dmg mobs. In 1, 2 & 3 you had no looting mobs while in 4 you had almost exclusivly allways-looting mobs.

This sounds pretty diverse, no? Well let me explain what the diversity change brought, both the technical change and the phenomenon.

With the last VU, this is now the cocktail which is CP.
Dome 1, 2, 3 & 4 now all contain high hp mobs. The only real diffrence between them today is their dmg output. The small ones in 1 & 2 still have a low dmg output while the big ones in 3 & 4 still have a high dmg output. Thing is, with their similar hp they now loot pretty much identical. And the no-looters in the smaller domes are now gone. All mobs now allways have loot. So the only real diffrence is basically chosing the dome after your pain preference, theres no longer any real incentive to hunt the bigger aliens.

This doesnt sound very diverse, does it? Now dont get me wrong here, i LOVE the change and i think its a ton more fun to hunt on CP today compared to before. However, with this change came a phenomenon because it didnt take long for people to realize that hunting the big aliens didnt really have an advantage anymore. Small ones started looting guns, bones, unlimited versions and so on just like the big ones used to do more frequently. AND they never no loot.

The reality today is that you have all the heavy hitters you used to find hunting the big Aurli in dome 4 hunting the small domes. And these guys come prepared with amazing firepower, skills and modfaps. So they run in and aggro 10, 20 or 40 mobs at once because they can handle it. However Joe cant, and he will face constant faping as well as constant dying.


So what im trying to say is, the diversification of CP completly failed and should be looked into. I would love to see the small aliens stay as they are now, but i would like there to be incentive to go back and hunt the big ones. This would be the best change imo. However the option would be to reprogram the alien chaos AI to make them stick to the person who got initial aggro, since this would make it possible for hunters to choose if they want one or 40 mobs at once. And i for one will send the support department a message asking for this.


I hope you could bare with me through all this. Id love peoples opinions on this, but dont slap me with "adapt", "whine" or "go skill more" because im not saying "OooOOOoo evil mod merc users". Im saying i want the big guns to have a reason to hunt big mobs OR i want MA to help us mix which today is pretty impossible with the hunting styles of some.

9.2 Critsall Palace, while sometimes unbelievalby frustrating, was the fastest evade skilling I think I've had ever. Could burn through a full set of 8A in two days. It took me 2 months to skill up to be able to handle dome 1+2 again with the same ability as 9.1
9.2 there were times when I had the entire dome to myself...6 hours at a time. For me it's the overwhelming number of green dots, not the four or five it used to be. I can still survive dome 1 no probs, tank ten mobs easily, but the loot cycle is too long for me.

So I wait until high dmg/sec becomes readily available, and try again.

Meanwhile I have found new mobs to love, and do my favourite of favourites - mining while hunting. I've assessed the domes: I probably need an unl. SIB, level 40 evader and maxed-ur125 before I will come back. The small mobs now drop all the nice items found in the (L) plates.... this I have absolutely no problems against - there mihgt be a time I can strap on some heavy acid/impact protection and take dome 3 again... that's the only one without gd's... until then... I'll miss CP.... but there's always another mob, and hunting a variety of different mobs in a day is my favourite activity ... Juwst a case of adapting to the situation... atrox are now more like "dome 0" of CP - and I don't have to wait in twins for hours to get there.

I just want to clarify one thing. What i meant with garbage replies is stuff like "go skill", "i lost hunting feffs, evil MA giving them more hp" and so forth. Im more than happy to have comments, ideas and opinions as replies no matter if they go with or against what i wrote. As long as its constructive.

I never was quite skilled enough to hunt on CP, but looked forward to hunting the fairly low HP yet high damage mobs in domes 1 and 2. The whole higher HP thing kind of spoiled it for me, and I don't see myself up there solo for the next few years. Kind of a pity, but I guess CP isn't meant for people like me....

There wasn't any diversification at all.

The "diversification" was a PR speak name for "increasing the hitpoints of widely hunted mobs, for players to generate more output in PED"

I don't think MA intended that, because they still do the same damage. It just didn't occur to them that people who used to hunt 3/4 would just go to 1/2 and get basically the same type of loot because of the increased health.
