lolz - means laughing out loudz

And ZOMG is actually the name of a long lost alien forgotten in Area51 from the planet Zentropia (chineze btw) - and is a praise meaning ZOH MY GOD whenever their God Lootiuz is providing them with something nize ...

Well, in our society we are very bussy/lazy people. Dont have time to say Grats/Grats or whatever lol. So our abbreviation is not Gz but a most of time simple G,, when in good mood maybe gg (much faster than Gz)

PS: when in RL I started saying lol instead of actually laughting my arse off, I knew I need to take a break from PC LOL

The z on the end of lol has no meaning. It does not stand for anything more than it makes the lol into a plural and thus more than one lol. Atleast thats what i can remember people like LOLMAN doing on quakenet irc many moons ago.

I think the Z is just the way Americans spell things, and it's kinda filtered through.
Like "Realise" for example - they spell "realize", and this habbit has started rubbing off on people in multi-national forums/chat.

For some reason I always thought tacking a Z on everything was a direct result of kids growing up with Dragon Ball Z which now spilled over into teener text talk which spills over into any chat eventually. hehehe I do remember all the Warez and Appz stuff though so that makes more sense.

When I read "these same people believe that"in your post - I was going to throw the linguist speech right at you, but then I continued reading and noticed you already knew it.

The thing is the language is ever evolving. If I went back a hundred years I'd be unable to read the newspaper where I live, because the language they used back then is all messed up. A lot of the spoken language we have today, was in text back then - so it's sort of like the "lol"-fenomen in reverse.
