I agree that some things were better represented in the past; but the truth is that many other things are much better now. Also, as someone said before, let's not forget the possibilities the new engine brings. What MA will do with it, remains to be seen.
EU is a game of endurance; it will definitely reward players in the long run. |

Well first off Mariko, It's still good that you're around and I do hope things are going quite well for you.
Now as for the feeling, Yes some of the magic is indeed gone at the moment, but then you have to remember a few things First off people knew of this VU coming out, and they wanted it so badly. My own thoughts were, "If it's not broke then why switch game engines" But a lot of people who wanted this new VU didn't realize what expectations were in order. Yet People clamored for this game engine, and now that It's come out, I have to agree that some of the magic is indeed gone, but then there's still a lot of creativity and game design that can be implemented with the new engine. After all EU is what I call a "Sandbox MMORPG" and things can change with every little update, provided that we give MA/FPC a bit of time to work things out. The point is whether folks are now regretting the fact that they wanted this VU to come out as quickly as possible. Yet for those who knew it was coming, they didn't quite prepare for what was expected of their computers and the requirements that this new gaming engine would have. Has the magic really gone? I'm thinking that maybe it hasn't disappeared quite yet, but with folks quitting the game, and losing face with the new gaming system. Maybe it's time to say, " You wanted it so badly, yet you failed to prepare, Told you so." But in the end, the magic will return.. All it takes is time and patience (Something a lot of us fail to have either of: Time nor patience) After all, did everyone expect this to be a rousing success? I sure didn't but I am above all an Optimist when it comes to the game. Give FPC some time and a chance to figure things out and the magic will return. But that's my feelings on this Quote:

But as LAVA points out new places will develop as we adapt... I'm just kind of of approaching it as if I just arrived on new planet as I did when I first arrived... what here is what it is... and how do I get enjoyment from that... Last edited by Brooklyn; 10-26-2009 at 08:13.. |

Figures used in this post are for example purposes only
Maybe the new missions system will inspire people to come back and participate more. Marco mention the team were looking at multiple directions in approaching the mission/quest system: Quote:
![]() (Most MMO quest systems are player initiated anyway) I have a personal take that I would like to see to circumvent the mimick of a casino loot system in that participants can visit area designated mission/quest NPCs and select a mission, do the objectives and receive the reward; Any other nice loot procured from the system while undertaking the assigned mission objective day-to-day is an added bonus. Mission Example A participant would like to invest their time, energy and finance into both skilling producing FPC balance sheet revenue through decay as they progress in skill whilst on a mission to procure a Good Teleport Chip. http://www.entropedia.info/Info.aspx...port_Chip_Good The mission NPC allocate the task to be undertaken: This is selected by the participant from a list of missions that anyone can undertake which will have the reward item listed along side each mission. Mission Name 1 - Icon pic of reward item Short description of mission name 1 Mission Name 2 - Icon pic of reward item Short description of mission name 2 etc etc Since the Good Teleport Chip historically has dropped from Kreltins, I will use those for this example. http://www.entropedia.info/Info.aspx?chart=Mob&id=45 Mission overview: Blah blah blah creative writeup about this mission. Mission Objectives: Kill Kreltins tallying X number of points to receive the reward of a Good Teleport Chip. ^^ Nice and simple so that any participant can understand what needs to be done - Participant language barrier friendly. Example mission objective: Kill these fugly creatures for a total greater than 1 Million points. Kreltin Kill Points Awarded: Based on HP, regen not an important factor in working out the points. Young - Points = 139 (HP 1390) Mature - Points = 146 Old - Points = 149 Provider - Point = 131 Guardian - Points = 166 Dominant - Points = 170 etc That would be in excess of 5,000 young kills, or more specifically 7195 young kills. That is a lot of decay revenue generated for the FPC balance sheet. The participant is happy as a pig in shit that they have progressed in skill/profession level with making this progression so much more worthwhile that they achieved what they set out to procure - A Good Teleport Chip. Wether this is for personal use or because this mob was at the edge of their current level of where they are upto with their progression of which they intend to sell the reward to another participant to finance the purchase of their own upgrades to take on other challenges ![]() Well hopefully it is something along these lines to inspire and motivate participants to participate on Calypso and to establish a form of sustainable retention & participation spend rate with the participant being rewarded for the goals they invest into setting out to achieve through means which they have control over - ie. Not casino-random/non-economy based allocations ![]() Anyhow, There is a lot of future potential to what may come in the near future. The above being only one possible example of that which will see a lot more participants online, more regularly/consistently in a much happier mindset about the Calypso service and what they are setting out to achieve day to day; Mission wise, social interaction, purchasing u, v, w off crafters so those crafters can purchase x, y, z off miners leaving the 85%+ majority of Calypsian participant base a lot happier with their invested time & finance spent using the service. ^^ If such an implementation was to take place with a couple of missions with attached objectives and rewards being appropriately assigned to each mob on planet Calypso made available through mission/quest NPCs, then it is highly likely the whole "Entropia Universe is a Casino" reputation issue will die out and fade away in the external market; Giving way to inroads that will allow Entropia Universe to re-establish itself once again in the broader market as a viable and worthwhile service to become involved with. So do try and hang in there, vibe amongst other things will return in time, bringing back with it, new magic. Last edited by Lavawalker; 10-26-2009 at 13:59.. Reason: Spelling. |

Hi,
sure I know whats Mariko speaking about. Minopolis used to be my home city where I returned to count loss ( ), and I generally miss all stuff you described in opening post. Thats because implementation of CE2 was very rushed (ok with me), and MA/FPC/Whoever decided to let us play in unfinished world. But they work on it, they will reimplement stuff in some time (will take a helluva time if u ask me). This engine has open possibilities, Previous one was at the end of its lifetime. I wish you patience ![]() |
