White List

Hello there fellow EU participants.

Long time passed since i joined PE (now EU), there always were black sheeps in our community, but somehow scams were much less common than last days/weeks. In order to avoid some people Black Lists were created but sometimes people that are on these lists were victims of some kind of conspiracy and propaganda. In order to avoid such flaming innocent people i decided to create a White List, list of people in game that can be trusted. Rules of this list are clear and simple. I have chosen 10 people that i think are most legit, fair and honourable, everyone from these 10 people can give up to 5 tickets of trust to another people. When some person receive two tickets from different two people that are already on this list, then he's name is placed on White List.

This is sub domain that belong to Akoz, so if something weird start happening to the list (with i hope won't) then blame him :P

Feel free to tell me how you like or dislike this idea, what is the good side of this project and what is bad. Also if you got any ideas or you think that some people should not be on this list also let me know.

It's always nice to see a positive angle and recognise people who have earned the community's trust.

I do have a few concerns though:

- Somebody may find a way to abuse this too easily
- Can we trust the person who posted the initial list of names
- Will there be enough input to make this a worthwhile resource?
- It's a bit of a pyramid scheme atm with no way at present for most players to directly influence it...

A proper in-game reputation system might be a better way - it seems to work reasonably well on these forums.

If something wierd happens in Akoz's domain maybe we should look to MA to see if they have reclaimed it mistakenly

Someone may find a way to abuse it ? how ? Every person here is directly put by two there by two diffrend people, these tracks will be very easy to find and they will be public.

Can you trust me... let's think... i have no really business in that I'm not taking any fees or anything, so yes you can trust me i think.

About Input... there is 50 tickets to be given by these 10 chosen people so yea i think it might grow up very fast.

It is a pyramid... but you can be in here when you get two tickets from people that are already on list. So it's not "closed list"

It's a very interesting idea and will be fun to see how it grows exponentially over time .... seems like it will be more of a "who's who" popularity, but may be reliable from the trust perspective, too.

Will we be able to see which people voted for the candidate? As if that candidate turns out to be untrustworthy, then we may question the judgement of the person who nominated them.

Well Beki, this list will work so long as MA will put some real trust, fame system to the game wich be sufficient enough to avoid scamming.

Hmm, thought it was famous wordl-wide. It's a "community" where you can invite your friends only. It was supposed to be a small group, only with friends of the guy who founded it (an arab, I think, called Orkut), but now it has over a million users.

( www.orkut.com is the link if anybody's interested. I found it very boring myself, and left right after joining, lol)

Well none of my points were meant as criticisms - just things to consider.
As for exploiting it, well people always seem to find a way.
Suppose an account gets hacked and the hacker then points his victims to this list as proof of trustworthiness...

I also didn't mean to question your credibility - I was more making the point that the more people know about the originator and members of the list, the more credible it will be to people that don't know any of them in game. Expanding the profile for each member might be a good development to think about in this regard.

FWIW I know/know of most of the people on the current list and would also consider them trustworthy.
