If I missed anything, I'm sure someone will fill in the blanks. People don't complain or whine because they hate EU, quite the contrary. They speak out because they in fact love EU, and are discouraged because while MA has provided something quite unique, their attention to certain aspects of EU is either overlooked, dismissed as being less important than adding new content, and maybe even due to less of a staff than is necessary to keep up with the demands (i.e., old bugs, new bugs, reoccurring bugs).

Telling people to quit is disrespecting their opinion (whining or otherwise), and I've been guilty of this in the past myself, but perhaps it's because I had more faith in what MA was telling us with regard to their intentions. It's no secret that this last VU sent a lot of players over the edge (myself included), and with this most recent event that just seems to be confusing and ridiculous to so many, it's no wonder that more and more people are speaking out. We want EU to continue to advance, and to continue being unique, but at what cost to the player each step of the way?

Each VU has it's level of whining, each event that causes more issues than should will garner complaints, and this is happening more of late than ever before, so there has to be something to it than just the usual whiner or complainer. There are quite a few of us who have usually been rather subtle in publicly expressing our frustrations, but recently, MA's actions seem to have more players disgruntled than just the usual number of players after a VU. This time, it was on a more massive scale as evidenced by the multitude of threads at this forum, and this time, even some of the more die-hard fan-bois and gurls came out of the woodwork to express their opinions of disenchantment.

So it's not idiocy ... it's stepping back and evaluating the whole picture and just how negatively-affecting some of MA's last moves have been. It's speaking out as a customer who loves the concept of EU and its potential, but not the continued implementation of things that seem to be sending more and more players in an opposite direction.

My question would be ... is MA's goal to indeed affect a 6-12 month player lifecycle in order to generate revenue from those who don't know any better, or care about the long-term playerbase who have continued to deposit or develop their avatars in a way that has been supportive and dedicated to their mission?

We don't want to quit ... we want a developer with innovative (and finishing) event storylines ... and a developer who can not only think about their stockholders, but their customers as well.

This post is the best reply I have ever seen to any of the people who disrespect some of us for criticising MA... We all love EU and we want to make it a better place, not destroy it !!!!!!!!!! Thanks MindStar9, Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

If the soap opera comes from a drama TV show (which is mentionned clearly on those youtube vids) it has nothing to do with sci-fi (space, drones, aliens, lasers) and then it's the event which should quit the game. If you like this sh*t then you're better off playing Coronation Universe or sum'thing

@MS9: magnificent post, 2 bad I need to spread some rep around first

Posted the short version of quote to not add "quoted" space into the thread too much (as my 2 anteposters did).

I don't have a medical background, hence I lack the knowledge upon the scientific definition of idiocy. Hence, politically correct speaking (bleh), I am probably wrong calling them idiots.

Maybe "compulsive paranoid behaviour" would be better.

Aside from that, what you described in your post might be very well reasons for an unhappy customer. I understand that fully and I've been myself in that position quite some times (axe 1x0 anybody?).

Just that the whiners seem to come from a foreign world. Somewhere deep in space, in another dimension, where:

- managers of the project don't manage their project
- 200+ avatars in one place doesn't lag the servers
- 200+ avatars to render doesn't affect the videocard, RAM, processor and whatever
- events develop in one day
- they are announced before and fully briefed upon content of event, eventually with 2 years before, in order to decide if to deposit or not

I understand that a particularly type of personality might have absolute no pleasure in role-playing. Also I understand that same particular personality might have no pleasure into "noir" fun or into RL twisting with VR.

But then comes my question:

If you don't like the notes, you don't like the event, what the hell were you doing at the site of the event, lagging even more with your useless presence? (That's not directed at you MS9, is a general question, I met at the site of event almost all whiners around here).

I mean how idiot is to be at those coordinates and write in public chat:

"What crap event, there is so much lag, I am fed-up"?

"I don't like it but I don't want to quit" - that's masochism right there. While some people might enjoy this type of sexuality, I guess them shouldn't cry about it. Or that's what masochism is all about?

Everybody has right to voice his/her opinion. But I think there is a line between expressing your opinion and filling the forum with useless spam.

Also, Entropia Universe is quite.. big. If you don't want the notes, there's plenty of other areas to mine and/or creatures to hunt, plenty of machines to craft and so on.

Nobody forces you to take part in the event.

Where from such impertinence? I enjoy this event, I presume you enjoyed the robot attacks or the feffoids attacks. Did I said anything, in any form, about those events and how fit or not are in my opinion with the universe?

I have to agree with those who say ... this current event has nothing to do with sci-fi, or futuristic anything. I'm quite the fan of solving mysteries, but rather than inviting an IRL entity to advertise a TV soap opera somehow connected to EU, how about a true in universe futuristic mystery that brings the community together in a desperate need to solve some dilemma that hinges on our very deliverance into an advanced civilization, and not some storyline that cuts us off at the knees.

I guess people have probably more reason to criticise MA for some of their actions than you have for calling everybody an idiot for voicing an opinion...

From the outset MA have stated that they want the virtual and real to cross over 'blur the lines of whats real' so this event is a perfect opportunity to exercise that.

The virtual and reality are blurred together in new and exciting way.

In champions league one can win real life prizes this new event is just the natural evolution of what MA has always intended to do.

Now MA have held an event like this lets say it's a kind of AVRG 'Alternate Virtual Reality Game' as opposed ARG's 'Alternate Reality Game' they can now put it to bigger and better companies.

Who knows in a few years we may find ourselves solving puzzles to win a real life BMW or 50inch Plasma TV. Theres no doubt in my mind that these things will be a reality to us one day.

MA are just taking baby steps in that direction.

I admit that the event was laggy and unenjoyable. I went down to try and do some filming did 2 tp jumps from Jason and ended up stuck with a few others trying to get near but just kept rubberbanding back after 2 mins of this i just thought feck it! I got better things to be doing and tp'd the hell out of there and as it happens ended up going to a wicked party that went on into the wee hours at Club'3G'

And that didn't cost me a red cent and enjoyed it far more than the event.

If the event hadn't of been laggy it would of been great and i would of happily joined in blasting kerebos to smithereens but it wasn't to be.

Hopefully things will improve 'in the lag department' but i truly take my hat off to MA for coming up with these storylines and there has been a lot this year as opposed to 2006 when people were moaning that there were none!

Keep up the good work MA and do some tuning on those bloody servers!

I think there is more subtle ways to blur RL with Virtual Reality... but then I really really wonder why MA have chosen a SCI FI theme to promote swedish soap operas or cars in the future as you say ...

I recon a lot of people who loved the sci fi theme of EU will be pretty much scared off with such type of interaction. Maybe if it had somethign to do with Star wars it would be understandable but in this case .... I really don't know ...
