Agnostics and Lootius

I'm not agnostic. I just know that Lootsifer could whip Lootius with one... umm... appendage tied behind his back. (Yes, Lootsifer has two and they're both long enough to tie behind his back!)

I don't worship Lootsifer, I just try to stay the hell outta his way!

After reading Another Loot Pool theory I had these thoughts...

Upon entering the Universe of Entropia, many colonists are left bewildered, confused, without instruction. Having no education of the rules and regulations of this world, those with complaints are left seeking a manager that can't be found.

So the Young Man will enter the Universe, and try to make his place. There are many choices for the Young Man. Mining, Hunting, Crafting, Trading. All choices that he must make on his own. Looking for the meaning of his life, he seeks loot. After much struggle and toil, the Young Man will inevitably feel alone, isolated and anxious at the idea that there is no reason for this. Why does he struggle to increase the skills, what reward is there at the end. But the loot seems to distract him from this. So the Young Man collects more loot.

After the loot stops making him happy, he will reflect upon the choices Young Man has made, and feel anxious. If only Young Man had been a crafter, the loot would have been better. But there is no-one else to blame for this choice, only the Young Man. And so the Young Man uneasily re-enters the loot pool, filled with dread, overwhelmed by the endless skilling and freedom ahead....

Ah Crap... I'm an existentialist....

It struck me when I realized that MA staff read this forum, and I assume others forums as well, that any work done to discover the secret of loot may infact be in vain. It reminds me of the uncertainty principle of quantum mechanics. Simply put, the uncertainty principle says that we can not accurately measure the speed and position of a particle at the same time, as measuring the position affects its speed and vice versa.

The more accurately we figure out how loot works, the more inclined MA will be to change it. I'm sure that there are many different ways that loot could be determined while still maintaining a "balanced" universe. So if we correctly figure that loot theory A is the truth, MA can just change it too loot theory B and we will never know. We would have affected the truth by figuring it out.

I'd change it if I was MA. So it seems to me that I am a Lootius Agnostic. There may be a Lootius, but we can never know or understand him

Interesting idea but there is one flaw. If the loot system is based on a process that if figured out can cause people to loot more often than they should then sure, MA will change it.

But it would make more sense for MA to develop a loot system that, even if broken, does not need changing as knowing how its all done puts no one at an unfair advantage. This seems like a smarter way to do it as you then avoid any work required to change it... cos you never need to

Besides, people who really know the loot system enough to profit from that knowledge are not gonna just give it away to others for free right? ~_^

I was under the impression that LOOTIUS was a she and as such somewhat fickle.

Lootius is NOT dead. He has been known to fake his death to further his agenda, but I assure you Lootius is not dead. I haven't seen much of Lykke or NotVF, so he's probably communing in their bed....
